Well, the money has gotten really tight lately.

I fear I'll have to discontinue SG if something doesn't change. tongue

No, but public employee unions are PURE EVIL. California's a textbook case. In Scandanavian countries, the easiest way to the good life isn't becoming a professional or entrepreneur who makes something the public wants; it's becoming a government elite and approving bigger benefits and pay raises to yourself.

I know the same thing happens in America, but we at least dont make it policy to punish the private sector. In America, the private sector bribes the government and writes it off as a cost of doing business. In Europe, the government uses public funds to feather their own nest, and that is a big reason CA got in financial trouble.

Today I disconnected the cable TV.

They had pushed one rate hike after another until I was paying $70 a month with no movie channels.

FUCK THAT!

I was so bummed today. The new tech director in the theater took down all the silly crap that we had put up there 15 years ago and threw it in the dumpster a few weeks ago.

The only reason that I was able to salvage my framed poster of Elvis was that Rich had saved it because he had wanted to take it home....

Also want to say he and I went to the same college. I only couldn't finish because my family couldn't afford it. It was not a selective college, BTW. Just expensive. He's being a total snob.

Well, I didn't read the article. Someone asked what the "don't ask don't tell" was all about and I linked something to give them some sort of idea. That's all.

drstinkypants:
hola
read your comment in stock's journal.
my first ever batch of homebrew is currently fermenting. im pretty excited.
you have any tips on making good brews? i just bought kit with the hopped marley and what not for the first batch.
drstinkypants:
cool, thanks.
i tried to be as sterile as possible.

during the boil, i wasnt paying attention and it boiled over. i think i lost about half a gallon on the stove top. hopefully that will just make the brew be a little less potent right? or did i maybe burn off some important imgredients?
also i wne out today to check on it and the valve wasnt really bubbling at all and i could see a whole bunch of whit looking sediment at the bottom. should the release of gasses slow down? (this is day #5 of fermenting)

and i do like dark beers (Sam Adams and Sierra Nevada is what i normally drink at home), thats what i was hoping to get.

So anyway, I went to K-mart today. As I left, there was a little 4 year old boy with a helmet walking behind me. As I got to my car, it became apparent that he was separated from his parent. I tried to talk to him, but he didn't speak english. Luckily there was a bi lingual woman near who offered to take him back...

Why? I dont know. To reassure (me at least) what a bullet we dodged with him. Claiming that he never flip-flopped, ran guns to the Khmer Rouge while in the Navy, pooh-poohing the elections, running off to the Middle East and France to succor our enemies.......man we were lucky.

So busy these days. Big theater rehab. Out with the old dimmers; in with the new.

Some bonehead thought it would be OK to bypass the upper limit on the austrian curtain. For some strange reason the cable clew got sucked into the sprockets of the curtain motor and everything got jammed. These are the kind of repair projects that greet me on a daily...

So, I'm out on Christmas eve and I see the tree lots blowing the trees out for $5 or so and I had the following thought:

You know your dad's really cheap when, not only does Santa bring the presents, but he brings the tree as well.

I think there's potential in a "my dad's so cheap" monologue.
