okay, here's my verdict on ROTK.
sometimes people get pissed at me because I list the things that were left out and why they were important in the books. THis may seem like complaining, or criticism, but it is underlit by a strange joy at meeting other people who have actually read thew books and remember what was in them.
I was raised with them. I was afraid of nazgul as a child, and I have 2 lines of the silmarilion tattoed on my body.

someone sort of snottily told me yesterday that books are different from movies. Well duh. especially duh, because i'd said about 2 minutes earlier in the conversation that a. I thought they'd done the best they possibly could have, and that b., I think the third one was the hardest to realize as a movie.

I think I've been very tolerant, and generous here, as a life long tolkein fan/person with a super major bias toward the written word.

If I'm happy that I met another person who knows what a barrow wight is and wants to discuss how much we love tom bombadil, that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy, or value the movies. 9just you know, less than the books....)

I dunno.
