In the spirit of Halloween & all things creeptastic, @missy @rambo & @lyxzen were curious about our scariest encounters. Seeing as I'm a magnet for paranormal activity, I'm thrilled to share! I've got quite a few stories, and all are just as true as they are freaky! I'll start with the earliest one I remember...
1. Some Like it Hot
My childhood home in NJ was previously owned by a man & his wife, along with his elderly mother who eventually passed away in the office that was turned into a hospice room for her. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with what I saw, but it's the only thing I can think of. Anyways, one night I went to the bathroom to find the door locked. I could see the light was on, & I heard water running inside, but I was confused at why my parents would use the hallway bathroom instead of their own. I went to their room and saw two lumps in the bed, and my heart dropped. I shook my mom awake & dragged her to the bathroom. She picked the simple lock with a penny & what we saw could not be explained. The shower & sink were both running on hot, leaving the empty bathroom in a cloud of steam.
2. Voice of "God"
One day, when I was about 7, I was in the kitchen with my mom making my grandpa a peanut butter sandwich (we lived with my grandparents). They had a 2-story house that I never felt comfortable in. As I was spreading peanut butter on the bread, I remember hearing a man's voice bellowing from the upstairs. I don't recall what he was saying, I just know I asked my mom if it was God. She told me she had no idea what I was talking about & that there was no noise.
3. Phantom Blood
In the same house where I heard that mysterious voice, there were stairs that came down to a platform about halfway, then more stairs. On that platform was a large ficus tree. I fell down the first set of stairs and into the tree, bumping my head on the wall pretty hard. When I looked up, I saw what looked like blood spatter, but I wasn't bleeding. I screamed & ran to my grandma, but the blood was gone when she came to look.
3. Don
When I was about 10, my mom started dating a married man named Don. He worked for a pharmaceuticals company & came over late at night, but never stayed over. One night, I had a nightmare & went to crawl in my mom's bed and found him there, but she was gone. I asked him where she was, and he pointed to the bathroom. He never spoke. I asked her why Don was sleeping over, & she took me to the empty bed. He was never there.
4. "Hello?"
From 5-8th grade, we lived in a relatively new 2-story home. Those few years were interesting to say the least. One afternoon as I came home from school, I saw my mom's car in the drive way & came in greeting her. The house was dead silent as I said hello. "Hello?" she responded. I started toward her room. "Hello? Hello?" I heard it again. This time I knew it didn't sound quite like her. I walked into the room. No one. Bathroom, no one. Walk-in closet, no one. I grabbed the house phone & stood outside, frantically asking my mom where she was. She said she was getting groceries & asked me what was wrong. I broke down. She swore nobody was in the house & accused me of smoking weed...
5. Not an Illusion
Have you ever stared at something long enough that it appeared to move before your eyes? That's definitely what I tried to chalk this one up to. I was reading a Harry Potter book one night with my lamp on & my door closed because it was past my bedtime. This was the same house mentioned above. I looked up for a second because I saw something out of the corner of my eye. My two closet doors were slowly opening before my eyes. I rubbed them vigorously, even covered my head with blanket, and still they continued to creak ever so slowly apart. I tapped my lamp off & hid under the sheets until I fell asleep, afraid to pass my closet if I got up. When I told my mom, she blamed the AC for the disturbance.
I had way too much fun with this! It's really eerie to go back & explain these things in detail. I have a couple more, but I'll save them for another time! Hope y'all got your fill of fright!
Later boos!
