I am enjoying my last day of peace and quiet at home. I have two days off of work each week, Tuesday and Thursday, and I have used that time to recharge my batteries, so to speak. Beginning next week, those two days will be full of listening to my children bicker and fight. I cannot believe the school year is over already!

We got our new play set today, after three and a half weeks of waiting for delivery. That was a long three weeks too, with Jason asking about the play set every hour or so. In hindsight, we probably should not have brought him with us to pick the thing out!

If the students were allowed to arrive at the answers in their own way, would the teachers have enough knowledge and skill to analyze the logic properly? Perhaps that's the root of the problem- or that they are trying to eliminate such work by forcing standardization on the part of the students.

I've never bought into the theory of teachers as especially good people. They're just people, like the rest of us. And sometimes they need to be told that they, and their methods, are full of shit. (When they are, which is not always)
