I watched Napoleon Dynamite last night. It's a movie that i avoided because one of my many movie rules is that Most Comedies Under R Rating Suck.
And ND is rated PG...
That--and to me--it looked rather stupid.
But that was before S told me that the protagonist acts exactly like Millie.
So i rented it.
And watched it last night.
And S was right. Boy, was he right.
Unfortunately, i cant tolerate Millie for more that 20 minutes at a time. Atleast not without a buffer.
S is usually the buffer.
So with the movie at around 58 minutes, right after the prom scene, i thought, Wow, that was a quaint, annoying movie...
But there was 41 minutes left in the movie...
And so it dragged on and on and on and on and on.
I guess this is just another generational thing i dont get. Put it right next to Red Bull.
I dig interesting, eccentric characters. But the writers/director need to study more Wes Anderson before they try and copy him.
From the opening credits i thought, Oh! I get it, it's Wes Anderson for kidsWes Anderson Lite, if you will.
Not that Anderson cornered the market on quirky characters, just the style, the framing, it reminded me of Anderson flicks.
It has the aesthetic, but none of the edge.
Or defining characteristics.
Like humour.
Or writing.
Or plot.
Cos it's PG.
I mean, who needs interesting characters, anyway?
Hold on, fanboys, i said INTERSTING, not ECCENTRIC.
I'd apologize, but i cant...this is a witless, relentless, slowpaced, single minded, piece of shit...not much unlike Miles.
And so i dyed my hair. Which was messy. I've been doing this for about 8 years, every three months (or so) and i can never do it...er...clean...
Here i am, plastic wrap and all...
With my NonDrip Sheeting...
All Coloured and Ready to Go
And because i mentioned him, a small tribute to Miles (Millie)...
Camera Shy
The Badass Gangsta licking a Hunting Knife...
M Attacking Guey, S in the Corner
The Badass Gangsta getting Licked

i do, however, bust a gut whenever someone quotes the movie.
so i've decided it's like 'space balls'. when i was little, 'space balls' was mother fucking hysterical. i watched it all the time. i could quote every line (and still can). but i tried to watch it again when i was 17, and it sucked. bad. i didn't get even a third of the way through it. but i still laugh when people quote it.
you didn't hit up that head bangers ball this weekend?
