I just spent an hour typing out a really important journal to me and accidently erased it.
mad
I am going to try again, but it won't be a re-creation, I have to make it fresh.

Gee.
I got into it with some folks yesterday on one of the boards.
It was stupid, I was making a pointedly ironic comment to point out that someone was making a homophobic generalization, but people took me seriously.
I don't want to reveal what it was all about, cos people I really respect were involved, as well as some for whom I have nothing but utter contempt.
But why do I care?
Why do they care?
Why are people so desperate to jump in and tear off a bit of flesh from someone they have no clue about, just because everyone else is doing it?
It's sad and pathetic and I decided early on to jump out of that thread which had completely missed the point and just became an insult fest.
From now on I'm sticking to helpful informative groups (e.g. MacUsers) groups instead of these bitter bitchy gossipy cliquey ones where you can't actually discuss anything.
I'll do my discussing here, thank you.

(The folowing is in part a response to KikiBH's journal which I haven't read yet)
But why do I care?
I don't care about folks I know nothing about, but why do I care about friends I make here?
Well, for one thing I don't have many friends living in NYC anymore.
But that's not really it - I feel like I've gotten to know some of you pretty well, and others I hope to get to know better.
(Man, my original post of this was so much better)
Anyway, the thing is, I've met 6 folks from this site in person and they've all ended up being really cool - people who I'd like to keep as friends, well, forever.
REAL friends!
No one is EXACTLY what you think they're going to be like, but y'know, it's amazing how right my instincts were about them!
We've had both Polly_Jean and LizFitts over to the house in the last 36 hours and they really brighten our day!
Sure they're nuts, but so are we!
I guess my point is that you really can get a handle on who people are here.
You really can comminicate meaningfully.
Not ALL the time, but it happens.
And it's worth it.

It's worth it for the meaningful stuff and it's worth it for the silly stuff.
It's worth it because you'll meet great people you never would have otherwise.
Just stay away from the boards!

Look who's cute and hot -
Wave and Anaxarete (with her new haircut) in our hallway:

We're going to Vermont for a few days tomorrow.
It's spring, which is known, for good reason, as "mud season" up there.
It's really quite unattractive and difficult to drive (we live on a dirt - mud - road), even with awd.
This is our driveway last year around this time:

Oh - I've been wanting to say for those of you who've asked that my project of telling all my friends what they should do has been cancelled due to my lameness.
I just couldn't come up with anything I thought was interesting or insightful or worthwhile in any way for anyone.
It was pathetic!
I DO happen to know what everyone should do, but I need to know most of you better first.
I apologize to those of you who were holding off major life decisions until you heard my assessment.

JUST WONDERIN:

1) Do you partake in group threads and do you find it a constructive experience?

2) Where do plan to go on your next real vacation?

3) What's your favorite Burt Lancaster movie?

4) Would you rather have made out with Mick Jagger or Paul McCartney or David Bowie in 1969?

5) How far have you ever gone in licking someone's ear?

SPOILERS! (Click to view)
1) Not really. Not really.
2) I guess Chicago/Wisconsin in August.
3) "Sweet Smell Of Success"!!!!!!!!!! Amazing film! With "Brute Force" the best prison movie evuh in close 2nd...
4) Paul.
5) All the way, baby!
