Time and circumstance continually conspire against all my recent attempts to remain up to date on sg.
Perhaps today I can get the chance to see what you've all been up to in the past 2 weeks.
I will at least be able to catch you up on what we've been doing.
Ah, Vermont.
Despite the seemingly impossible perfection of the location, this is indeed a real place within walking distance of our mountain aerie, which I like to call "The Eagle's Nest":
A Tale of Two Turtles
One of the days we were up there, my bro in law and I were driving into town when we saw a turtle in the middle of the road. I didn't want him to get hit by a car and being the animal lover (even reptiles) I am, I pulled over and picked him up and put him back in the woods heading for the brook (pictured above).
On our way back 15 minutes later he was in the road again!
So I moved him again.
Back up to the house to drop off the dresser we bought and back to town to pick up the other one.
Who was waiting for us?
So this time I had the camera just in case.
I picked him up and he peed on me (which I had been expecting the whole time).
I put him back headed in the right direction again, and when we came the next time he was nowhwere to be seen.
We never saw a crushed turtle on the road, so that's good.
Then the next day we were looking for another swimming hole we heard about on our mountain when we came across this fellow:
I don't know if you can tell, but he was BIG!
He was in a bad spot as well:
But he was a snapper and we couldn't touch him.
I hope he's ok.
I caught a little garden snake in the yard (no photo).
He was fast.
I put him back in the woods too.
And we heard a really loud owl (I think) one night.
And on one of the first nights we were woken at 2:00am by some kind of insane animal noises - growls and human sounding whines. Very eery...
And we saw the aurora borealis one night, too.
One day we went to the top of Mt. Mansfield (where the Stowe ski area is):
Lots of bike riding and running and playing in the inflatable pool.
All in all a great time.
I'm sure I'm forgetting stuff though...
Now I hope I can finally catch up with you all.
Hope all is well.
