Alright! Here's the deal. My stepdad agreed to loan me the money to drive back. He's sending that out right away.
I'm putting in my two weeks notice at work today, they said they could transfer me to a store back in Chicago, but Im not interested unless they will let me be a groomer.
So, Im still stuck here for the birthday, whatever. Ill be going home around the 18th. Just depends on how fast I can get stuff packed and get in the mood for a 28 hour drive.
Im going to Jiffy Lube tomorrow to get all my fluids checked and whatnot.
I need some packing peanuts, and someone to take care of my fish when I go. I dont know how well driving with him all that way would go. Where can I buy packing peanuts? Do they have them at target or something? I know uhaul has them, but theirs are expensive.
And, does anyone know of a way to go east towards chicago without going north to flagstaff first? I want to avoid all of that uphill driving. My van would not be a happy camper. Any help is appreciated!

Sorry we couldn't keep you in AZ longer. Bummer. Hope the move back proves fortuitous for you. I'd echo MnEric's recommendation of going through Tucson to NM, through Albuquerque, on to Amarillo TX, Tulsa, St. Louis, then Chicago. I drove my brother out to NY a month and a half ago, and that pretty much mirrors the route we took up to Illinois before continuing further east. The climb up to Albuquerque from Las Cruces, NM is pretty gradual, so it wouldn't be as taxing as going through Flagstaff or trying the Colorado route. Anyhow, sorry AZ didn't work out for you. Best wishes on your sojourn back.
