At my daughters art show today, they had hung what she had written by one of her paintings:
My foxglove is small but on paper it is big oh so big! Yet the only reason it is big is so people get a chance to know me. It is not about how the foxglove looks. When you go to the museum and see a painting, you see the artist not the flower.
To draw a flower is to know the flower to know every petal and twig to sit, just sit, and watch and to be it. When I make my art about a flower, it is not showing you who the flower is, but to tell you about me, and only me.
To be with it is to dance between the words of the foxgloves story and listen as it tells you that you are only a bud to the flower- only one small part of what makes this planet work and keeps us alive.
Words fail me I'm so proud.
And again thanks to the wonderful Taoshen for a great dinner - both the food and the company!
