A few years back when I got my Ipod I loaded up my cd collection (maybe 150 cds)on it and I realise I need more music to fill the memory. I now have over 500 cds(over 6500 songs), yes I still buy cds and then convert then :) I have many different artists in all sorts of genres, some good, some bad, some I simply can't get enough of. But here are some very talented Australian female singers that should have way more recognition than they do have. The one thing they have in common is they all write and perform their own songs and music.
Paris Well; simply one of the best vocalists around, her voice is amazing. Her two albums, Keep It, and Various Small Fires are both excellent from go to whoe.
Paris Wells: Tender.
A hauntingly beautiful track with such a smooth sound.
Kate Miller Heidke; classically trained in opera she decided to create her own quirky form of pop, some of her songs are brilliant, some not so good. But no one can accuse her of conforming to the norm of standard pop just to increase record sales. Live in concert she is so completely different and can go from pop to opera and back in the blink of an eye. And can create the most purest notes you will ever hear.
Kate Miller Heidke: Words.
Other notable tracks include; Can't Shake It, No Truck, Motorscooter, The Devil Wears A Suit.
Stonfield; Four sisters from country Victoria decided to recreate their parent's love of 60s/70s rock in he back shed of their family farm. The result is something that doesn't exist in the mainstream music industry anymore, raw, independant and original. they are also totally awesome live, they just need bigger audiences. Wolfmother meets the hot farm girls next door.
Stonefield: Love You Deserve.
They have many more great songs to check out.
Jasmine Rae; Speaking of Country, here's a city girl that does country music. With a voice that is ten times bigger than she is. She is a pocket dynamo with a voice out of this world.
Jasmine Rae: I Faked It.
And try and listen to The First Song, she wrote after the death of her father and not feel a tinge of emotion.
Owl Eyes; aka Brooke Addamo, dance beats with a hippy groove, I love her, I saw her live, she is brilliant. Two EPs and an LP all worth listening to.
Owl Eyes: Raiders.
Brooke is one artist I can't get enough of. More music please Owl Eyes <3
Me and Brooke after the show :D
This little blog was inspired by @ivylina I hope she reads it.
And I may do more if I get a good reaction.
