DĂa de los Muertos (All Souls day) is a huge part of my culture, identity and linage. It is celebrated on 11/02. However, celebrations start on Halloween. 11/01 is called Dia de Los Innocentes. (Day of the innocents OR angelitos). That day celebrates all children or infants who have passed. Nov. 2nd is a day to celebrate our past adult relatives.
Both days are celebrated cherish the memories Of our dearly departed. We have ofrendas for them, or alters, filled with their fave food, trinkets that remind us of them. The ofrendas are full with things they loved to do when they were alive also candles and marigolds. Marigolds bright color and smell guides their spirt to the alters. I cherish dĂa de Los Muertos.
COINCIDENTALLY, DĂa de los Muertos is MY BIRTHDAY!!!! 🎂 and as a proud Mexicana, I am so honored to be born in such a magical day. I will be 25 on November 2nd! Happy Dia de Los Angelitos (November 1st) and Dia de Los Muertos (November 2)
