Fleeting dreams, intrigue, friends and existence
A light shines from somewhere unknown to me
I exist briefly as a flicker, a dance, an enigma
People passing by catch a glimpse, they turn
I'm unique, fascinating, unexpected
Then in an instant I'm old, boring, unworthy of attention
They continue on
No shortage of company, many have danced beside me
But time is not everlasting and as quick as they join me they are gone
My darkness is mysterious then haunting
And soon the light moves away as well
I fade, blend, vanish
Now as quickly as my meaning and purpose arrived it is gone
I am lost in obscurity and darkness
Expecting no more life then the brief encounter of another light
Forever alone, I simply wait
Anticipating nothing more than the brevity of the lighted moments that bring me to life
Until one day the lights stop coming
Until one day the darkness becomes my grave
This is what I am
And though my absence will be noted I will be consigned to oblivion without pause or care!
