I meant o say ages ago (but what with everything going on, you know) that i finished my book: Hairstyles of the Damned by Joe Meno. I haven't enjoyed a book as much as this for a very long time (in fact, this may be my favourite book).
For evryone in the UK have a looksie here Hairstyles of the Damned
for all my SG:US buddies (and for any that actually wants some decent info) have a look here
Hairstyles of the Damned
But i state total disclaimer, if you run out and buy it and think it's shit...then, well, it aint my fault! But i really loved it and i actually felt sad that it was over...i almost started reading it right from the beginning all over again, straight after.
The thing is, i'm book-less. I have loads i haven't read but, i dunno, i guess i don't fancy reading them. I became quie a fan of Chuck Palahniuk after reading lullaby but have kinda gone off his books a little. I read Lullaby, Diary and Fight club and own most of the others (i'm notorious for starting, but never finishing books). But i guess sometmes i find him a little wordy for his own good. The best books, in my humble opinion, are ones that flow and you don't find yourself re-reading sentences trying to get your head around certain things. That's what i enjoyed so much about 'Hairstyles'. I actually looked forward to reading the next chapters (the only time i've looked forwarding to riding the tube!) and was gutted when i finished it.
It's funny how my two favourite books are very similar...'hairstyles' and 'catcher in the rye'. Not a massive plot, just a section of a central figures life, and they're both narrative. (It's a conspiracy i tell ya!)
I'm open to any suggestions for a new read...
Peace
