I can totally relate on issues of having the bed to myself smile

I don`t know of any other sites you can submit your story to, but I do have a recommendation.

The poets library in The Royal Festival Hall on the south bank has a wall of leaflets with all short story and poetry competitions. Winning one of those would be good for your writing CV. Its a thought. The library is on the 4th floor and is a bit hard to find, so ask. What better mission can you think of for your days off?
