Valentine's Day was one of the best in recent memory. These are some reasons why:
-It began with a gardenia-scented bubble bath and the latest Book Forum, which included reviews by two of my favorite writers, Mary Gaitskill & Aleksandar Hemon.
-Endless brunch and juicy gossip with mellythepirate, who's cute as pie. We went to Fig & Olive, where we had poached eggs w/asparagus, roasted tomatoes, and truffle tapanade on toasted brioche and huge, fluffy fig and walnut pancakes slathered in whipped cream and maple syrup. Oh, and bellinis, too!
-The glitter- and confetti-filled tail end of the New Year's celebrations in Chinatown were lovely. Children exclaimed with delight and happy families were everywhere. We couldn't resist the siren song of a karaoke bar called Yello: She's My Cherry Pie.
-Brandy Library was glorious as always. We basked in the glow of artfully lit bottles of liquor, many of which were older and worth more than either of us. We met up with another friend and enjoyed the most delicious cocktails and little snacks. I want to live there, when I'm not living at the Met.![love](https://dz3ixmv6nok8z.cloudfront.net/static/img/emoticons/love.3be5004ff150.gif)
-I thought the only thing that could top Brandy Library would be a show at the Slipper Room (love you, Seal Boy!), but it was closed so we settled for a late-night slice and people-watching.
-Lots and lots of spankings.![blush](https://dz3ixmv6nok8z.cloudfront.net/static/img/emoticons/blush.c659b594cdb0.gif)
It was a great day, probably because I didn't have any expectations and enjoyed the revelation of each happy little accident. I love New York for making days like that more likely to happen.![smile](https://dz3ixmv6nok8z.cloudfront.net/static/img/emoticons/smile.0d0a8d99a741.gif)

work crap
health crap
This weekend I'm working a lot but Miss Alzy's coming to see me.
The new issue of New York magazine feels like inappropriate reading for work all of a sudden.
Voluptuous has returned? I didn't realize it ever left.
