Today I had lunch at a client's very smoky, bizarrely decorated Park Ave. apartment so her dog wouldn't be alone while she was out for meetings (she works from home). So, I ate my banana chocolate chip muffin with Ruby the English springer spaniel, who didn't notice I was there and basically just walked in circles, ignored the bacon hamburger they left for her on the floor, and peed everywhere all over the kids' play mats they put out for her (that sadly enough match the decor). Green and purple and junk everywhere...there was a ceramic Jello box covered in bugle beads. There was a massive bust of a joker-like figure and a cupboard full of mugs painted to resemble human skulls/shrunken heads, among other things. Rich people are weird...

My mama confirmed the Easter menu. Yay! Brazilian and Southern comfort food. We have Brazilian relatives visiting, for the first time since the early 90's. Mellythepirate is coming down from NY with me for a few days. My house is going to be full of people, just the way I like it.

My dad and I have been talking a lot lately. He says I sound stronger since I moved up here. If he knew what I've been up to since I got here, I'm not sure stronger is the word he'd use. Maybe he's a little right. I hope so.

Astrud was way too cool. My favorite of hers is Agua de Beber, but this is eerie and swanky.
