Actually I've been thinking about the question some more and I had the following thoughts:
It's all about weighing up short term happiness with long term happiness. Will the "victim" in this want to change his future pattern of behaviour if you tell him (I'm not presuming the person is male but it's easier to write him than him/her every time). If the current situation continues will the victim become unhappy over time or will he stay contented? If he has to put up with short term unhappiness for long term gain then it's probably worth going for it.

At first I thought that I understood what the email was getting at, then after a little thought I realised that I had no clue. It seems to be kind of equating greediness with happiness, or that it's okay to be greedy and fill yourself up on the things that make you happy. A kind of 'don't be guilty about being happy' message.
But yeh, a bit weird and kinda confused me.

Oho boy. Yesterday was the day of epic fail. I didn't haul my ass out of bed til after 5pm so I haven't managed to pick up the pretty new platform shoes that the postman has put aside for me. Did a bit of this the other month. An old schoolfriend by the name of L____ came over, and is one of the coolest people I know. We started off with a full English breakfast in a nearby greasy spoon, then back to mine to watch Being John Malkovich and play with the kitten. With champagne, just because. Then we got the Tube to Westminster, and took a boat back down to Kew, and walked along the Thames path to Richmond. Frequently skipping, because that's the sort of thing we did when we were 11, and we're not keen to acknowledge our accelerating decrepitude.
When we got to Richmond we got very very drunk while waiting for another old schoolfriend who, ultimately, didn't show up. So we went back to the flat and watched League of Gentlemen and played with the kitten some more.
