dude, I used to do that ALL the time. I still get urges to do it when I'm really upset but there is the voice of reason that tells me hey, remember a few weeks ago when you decided you really loved it long? yeah, that voice was right, you are wrong. F-off and do something else... like knit, or play sims. So I listen to that voice of reason and go do something else.

like the time I decided I wanted bangs. I cut them and I looked like I was twelve. I had bob length hair at that point. I had been growing it. After cutting the bangs and hating them I felt I had no choice, so I cut it all off. I was back to my regular super short boyish hair cut.
I'm sure there are ways you can work with it until it grows out. Ways to make it look good so you can post pictures and so you won't hate it daily.
Plus, i'm pretty damn sure it's not anything near as bad as you think it is.
