In a big 'tidy up' at the casa de vamp, I found a poem written in the '70s by my grandad, which nearly brought a tear to my eye...

- Munich '72 -

The 20th Olympiad which brought the world to Munich
was just as grand a spectacle as any held before.
The same intoxicating air, electric and Olympic,
complete with days of perfect weather....

warm beer? cold beer? who's paying attention.
my best friend's mother is german, and always insists we drink our beer warm.

what better to go with beer than ::clears throat:: some politics. the media coverage is gearing up, and won't let down till november here. who will beat pres. bush? i'm waiting with bated breath.

i just watched lost in translation for the first time... i have to say... i HAVE to go to a tokyo arcade.

hope things are going well...

Hello there everyone.

It's definitely high time I got my arse into gear and wrote something. I HAD hoped to let you know of my job-changes. In the direction of EMPLOYMENT, only I can't get through to the people "what know". I can only hope they let me know sometime before I'm due to fucking retire.

Did you all have a splendid weekend? Mine was...

Wishing you lots and lots and more of luck!

I wouldnt even consider biking over here, this time of year...theres so much snow and my bike is jsut an old-fashioned old-lady style of vehicle, nothing fancy and certainly not suited for any extreme conditions. Which naturally never prevents me from driving on bumpy forest paths, but well, its by bruised behind and no-one elses, so...

Instead, I went to the ninja dojo and got some bruises there. Helped a whole lot. biggrin

I'm back! Missed much? Aye, well, the room was getting me down really badly so I gutted it. My entire bedroom has been 'pivoted' 90. It gives a MUCH better feeling of space (for such a dark pokey hole). The size of the bloody furniture meant I was toiling for 2 whole days. My computer was scattered into bits down three flights of stairs. Thankfully...

wow, you actually celebrated the chinese new year proper. i, on the other hand, went only as far to crack open a fortune cookie on that day ( it was actually after some awesome thai, so no regrets there).

in my house now is one of the most impressive things to me... an atari 64 (not the big clunky kind i had when i was a rug-rat... but the sleek, re-vamped kind that was smaller and lighter) with a couple of dozen games... and... the amazing part... all of the instruction booklets! i'm a video-game stickler, but even i lost all the instruction booklets to my atari games!(hey, i was only 5 when i got it).
the only downer is that they were wet. and the way they smelt... like an ashy fireplace. unfortunately, they came from my best friend's mother's house (can you follow that? blush ). normally, this is not unfortunate... friday, however, was terrible because this house burned down. creepy... i was there the day before. funny how these things happen...
anyway, some cool things survived.... like the atari... so i'm going to clean it up and it'll be like new.
thanks for the well-wishes... sorry i wrote such a meaningless novella in your journal...

Hi everyone... How are you all doing? I'm not so bad, like. This is the first time in a while I've been in a journal writing mood and NOT been pissed. Yep, I'm as sober as a lord. Wait... That's probably not a sound comparison.

There's nothing to drive you to drink quite like the bureaucracy of the job centre when they make you re-register...

My sister's a nice girl. I get on really well with her. It'll be a shame she's going to hell for the events which transpired on Saturday evening... As the wildchild of the family, I no longer get surprised by the things she does and the scrapes she gets in. This one had my jaw firmly on the floor for its audacity.. 'Aquiring' a copy...

It's about time I shifted that rubbish out of the way...

I'm starting to feel a little less ill, now. I managed to shift the heavy-cold/flu pukeyness yesterday, so I'm feeling a lot brighter and alive!

I stayed over at my friends house in Widnes again yesterday. It's getting a little strange. We played cards til early in the morning, because neither of us could...

.Hey, cheers for the comment. It's a bit weird 'cos I kind of became a metalhead from totally the opposite direction. When I was 14-15 I was into groups like the Senseless Things, Carter USM, Mega City 4, the Wonderstuff, These Animal Men, SMASH etc (heavier end of "indie" basically) and it was kind of through them that I got into the Wildhearts, Terrorvision, Therapy?, Dogs d'Amour et al and hence from there G'n'R, Poison, Judas Priest etc. So a bit of a roundabout way but there you go...

And PS If you're looking for some long since deleted glam metal stuff, you could do a lot worse than try here

Dude, I hear you. California... what can I say? They take all the flakiness of US law and condense it into one big crappy bowl of litigious, saccharine crap. I mean, come on. Look who's governor.

Fuck US law school. I wanna be a barrister!! I mean, the Magna Carta is the basis for everything we call law now anyway. Why not go to the source??

I'm sorry to hear about your unfortunate run-in. In hospital for three days? That must've been terribly traumatizing. Curiously, how long did it take to get over your fear of dogs? Wait. Weren't you just attacked by a goose or something, too?

Lalalalala.. ILL! puke

I guess the 'drinking til 6.30' on NYE whilst crossing the threshold of a heavy cold isn't for the best. It mutated into flu and I've been shivering my ass off for the past few days. It's unreal how much strength it takes just to lift your head off the pillow. ugh. New Years Eve itself wasn't too bad. Great company, just went...

The station loomed ominously in the fog ahead. This wasn't the first and certainly not the last occasion he would be here. The banal and forlorn lettering of 'welcome to Newton-le-willows' hung on the wrought iron frame in the gloom. Streaks of rust cascaded behind the mounting points as if tears accompanying the incongruousness of the 'greeting'.

Although no more than a viaduct with...

Hello! I trust you had a lovely Christmas?! Mine was very nice indeed. Good family, food, friends and pressies of course! biggrin

I did briefly cast my beady (bleary?) eye over the site last night but was MUCH too pissed to update this journal (hehe).

The wedding went very well. I somehow didn't get flustered in my role as best man, despite this being the...

hey! love the new pic. You look like several of my relatives. Yes, beer, wine, and some loverly vermont herb. Copious amounts of it all. I'm bloated, cheerful, and rested.

My parents are a bit like yours i think - my mum's still got tinitus from a Megadeth concert!
She's always been so tolerant of things, but now she thinks that i'm going to get more tattoos just so i can show them off - she doesn't like tattoos frown

Anyway! My chrimbo involved lots of smokes, vodka, wine, vermouth, pickled vegetables, turkey curry - you know, the usual!
Now i have to do some exercise!

Well, ta-ta, you lot. I should be back alive sometime on Boxing Day. I'm currently wasting a little time before my best mate's Wedding. Yep. He's getting married on Christmas eve and I'm 'best man' (hahahahah!).

Yesterday I managed to get my entire outfit for the occasion. I found this COOL original 40's 3pc suit from a long since defunkt Manchester tailor. Shirt, tie, belt,...

Well bloody Nora, i'm awake again. Didn't think I would be today.

YAAAWN! Got in from the SGUK Manc meet at about 8ish. Oh god. Too early. The tram Nazis caught me without a ticket again. It was my own fault really. I didn't imagine anybody would be sad enough to sit on Pomona Docks looking for fare-dodging, piss artists like me at 6.20 on...
