Ja, Eiswein ist gut! Since I'm entertaining a friend for a few days, I've gotta be the good host and provide us with lots of yummy stuff! Yesterday it was sushi, today some fish, cider, and icewine. Mmmmmm!

All this socializing and working has left little time for stuff like sleeping or taking care of the whole thingy that I left town for last weekend....

I slept for approximately one half hour last night.
I spent the majority of the time between 7pm and 7:30 am on the road, coming back home so I could get to work just barely on time! And when I did, I stood next to my boss, listened to him talk for a couple of minutes, and fell asleep as I was standing there.
On...

What a day. I had to struggle to get out of work 20 minutes late, so I could run and just barely catch my bus. But I did catch it, so that's all peachy.
Hours on the road, and so far it's culminated in drinking champagne in my (oldest) friend's basement, at 3am. But there's more champagne for tomorrow, so I'm sure there'll be a...

so are you trying to say that you can get all the of the Popes swiss guards to chicago in approximately 7 days?
krista:
I was in Chicago so briefly, that if you blinked, you missed me,

Perhaps next time. There had better be a next time.

It's off to work, then off to the land of 10,000 lakes for me. Happy weekend, everybody.

In other news, half-waking up in the middle of the night and halllucinating, I thought I saw a bunch of fish that someone had dumped on my bed. Of course, I went back to sleep without thinking much of it.

Were they red snappers? If so, it was me.

Argh, work sucked today! Actually, it was fine, but there was so much to do that I got out two hours late, even though I busted my ass. I don't mind working hard, or even staying late on those days when I can. But it always sucks when other people are sitting around, totally slacking when I can't. Not that I want to be lazy...

I'm watching a documentary on Shane MacGowan.
You can tell how old the footage is by how many teeth he has left.

I don't wanna be flippant...but...well, I just happened to flip by a segment of The Craft when the girls are looking at Robin Tunney's wrist-scars, and everyone gets kinda quiet, and then Fairuza goes, "PUNK ROCK!!"...so maybe you should say that...

okay, I'll just shut up now...
kurtz:
mr macgowan is a depressing lil' hoot ain't he? good film, sad but impressive life........

There's a lot of rambling coming up, so feel free to not read it if you choose (duh!)

One of my coworkers came into work today with his wrist (poorly) bandaged. He said that he was involved with some drunken shenanigans, which was believable enough.
Later we took lunch together and he started spilling some beans about how he had a big fight with his...

I don't know what to tell people when they say, or it's apparent, that they tried suicide. I mean, what do you say?
I'm thinking about getting rid of my stereo too. I never use it. The only time I've used it this year is...I guess to make my SG Swap Tape. I dig vinyl and all, but....at some point you just admit the vinyl days have gone the way of Sheriff Lobo and Enos and you just get rid of the dame turntable. I think for me that's gonna be in the next 12 months.
I just hope I can find my rare vinyl shit (Died Pretty, the Icky Boyfriends, and Feedtime, for instance) on CD. The damnedest thing is, I'd pay someone just to burn copies of these people's primo albums (not Feedtime's reunion album on AmRep, which sucked ass) if I could.
I've never been to Minnesota; my oldest friend has tons of family there. He has some Minnesota-inflection in his speech, which I've picked up a fraction of. His family inflects all impatient/mad sentences as questions... I think valley-girl-speak might do that, too...

I went to see Pepe Le Moko after work today. It was pretty good, Jean Gabin kicks ass of course.
I had to ride my bike downtown to see it, since I rode to work. I wasn't thinking ahead or I wouldn't have ridden. The ride downtown was alright, kind of fun even, except that I hit a big sharp bump and got a pinch...

I'm surprised you get flats. I mean, I've been riding my mom's bike like a mountain bike for years now and hadn't had a flat. The Washington Parkway bike trail ins't exactly smooth, either. Many, many tree roots.
My phone line is still sucking. No me on IM tonight.
Please include strike/spare totals with your scores. Graci.

You win.....I am doing my paper on PoA. I found out there is an entire chapter doing a point by point breakdown of Citizen Kane in my book, since I can't expect him to believe me if I tell him I didn't read it, I am switching movies instead. So, I will now write about PoA and how it shows us that in every society there will naturally be class structures and that outsiders are always feared and hated for being different.

So far I think I've been making pretty good use of my day off. I did laundry, went CD shopping (though my favorite store was closed on account of some big market thingy on Halsted street.* I went to some other stored, but didn't buy anything.
I went to not one, but two of my favorite coffee shops, getting caffeinated and reading a good chunk...

Bah, forget that other stuff I had posted here. Much better to pretend it never happened.

In other news, I got to see Cat Power and Edith Frost tonight. They both put on great shows, but everything other than the music was pretty annoying. Oh well, not worth worrying about.
On a somewhat related note, the show was just about in the middle of yuppieville....

I don't think of taking a cab as being bourgeoise so much as being really fuggin expensive.

What did you think of Ghost Dog? I have my own lil movie thing going on today...

I'm really falling behind in my journal entries. I guess that's what I get for, you know, leaving the house and stuff.
When I have been home lately, I've been watching lots of movies. I guess I go through phases, and for the last few months I haven't been watching many at all. I guess it makes sense, now that it's "nice" outside and there...
