A bit of personal algebra

Happiness = Independance + Art

Independance = Job + Shelter

Job = Money + Purpose + Social Standing

Art = Self Expression + Understanding

Social Standing = Companionship - Money

Happiness = (Money + Purpose + Social Standing) + (Self Expression + Understanding) + (Companionship - Money)

Happiness = (Purpose + Social Standing) + (Self Expression + Understanding) + (Companionship)

I'm back-ish....

I am not so full of myself to think that this is any great event for anyone, but I just wanted to leave a fresh mark here to those who care.

Time creeps on as ever, and winter will soon follow after the most eternal summer I have known for....well, ever.

So here I am, moving ever on towards something meaningful, ever in...

So...the new profile picture...Have you ever been cutting a bagel (I love fresh bagels and cream cheese) and been thinking to yourself, "I remember years ago when bagels got really popular, every Sunday the emergency ward was full of people needing a stitch in a finger or two"...well, just as I was thinking that thought I cut my finger rather badly. I probably should have...

Two new applications off, so let's see what happens with those. I don't need a job so much for the money still, more for the sanity. And the self-esteem a bit. I hate having such rarified skills.

So for now, at least there is a lot of World Cup games to watch in the morning, the Stanley Cup finals, books, books, books, and some sunshine...

Summer is feeling official on the isle, with blue skies above calm waters encircled by hazy mountains.

I am spending a lot of time typing, making notes, thinking, and organizing my next assault on the working world.

The crows that nest in the backyard have finally pushed their progeny out of the nest and he has been spending his time getting to know his wings,...

i've been lying in a hammock watching little baby birds
they look like oversized bumble bees, being fed insects as they waddle along the lower braches of our birch tree

I know you're in Canada right now, but aren't you English? If not, what is your country of origin, and who do you support?

Ah, the bittersweet smell of the turn-down. Having spoken to Google this morning, I got the "Thanks but no thanks" speech. It seems they felt better about some other candidates. I fought the urge to thank them for keeping me on the chain for 3 months and the ever so funny "let's book a fight and hotel to Toronto" and then mysteriously cancel it three...
