my best friend amy was here for all of memorial day weekend, and, as always seems to happen whenever we hang out, life was spicey, surprising and...ahem...eventful.

on friday we dressed as vintage tarts and promoted for a peaches show on sunday in the party van, complete with strobe lights, smoke machine and loud music.

on saturday we met a pirate and he...

I think I am just going to hole up in my studio for today. I have so much to do! And I'm sure you're super busy getting ready to head out into the desert. Woo!

So let's plan to meet up next week after you get back. Have a fabulous, sparkly and feathery time out there. It's going to be so amazing. Please take lots of pictures!!!

my favoritist poet in the whole wide world is Mary Oliver. she won the pulitzer prize for poetry, and for me, reading her is like finally being given oxygen. especially because no one else has ever been able to say so precisely all that i think and know and feel about nature...not only the nature of this green earth, but also the nature of...

I just discovered you. I'm sorry. I'm a little slow sometimes.

This is March from M.O. It's my favorite of hers.

"There isn't anything in this world but mad love. Not in this world. No tame love, calm love, mild love, no so-so love. And, of course, no reasonable love. Also there are a hundred paths through the world that are easier than loving. But, who wants easier? We dream of love, we moon about, thinking of Romeo and Juliet, or Tristan, or the lost queen rushing away over the Irish sea, all doom and splendor. Today, on the beach, an old man was sitting in the sun. I called out to him, and he turned. His face was like an empty pot. I remember his tall, pale wife; she died long ago. I remember his daughter-in-law. When she died, hard, and too young, he wept in the streets. He picked up pieces of wood, and stones, and anything else that was there, and threw them at the sea. Oh, how he loved his wife. Oh, how he loved his young Barbara. I stood in front of him, not expecting any answer yet not wanting to pass without some greeting. But his face had gone back to whatever he was dreaming. Something touched me, lightly, like a knife-blade. I felt I was bleeding, though just a little, a hint. Inside I flared hot, then cold. I thought of you. Whom I love, madly."

peace, joy and love wink

i went and looked at a room last night in the upper haight. a beautiful old victorian, very classic and well kept, but not so polished that you feel uncomfortable. six people living there, all ages, all interests. they felt good to me. a full two stories, roof access, washer and dryer. 2 blocks from the haight (which also means no parking EVER). the downstairs...

Having just moved after 12 years in the same place, I can testify to its soul cleansing properties.

I have found letting go of attachments and bringing myself into the present to be a lifelong, but sublime exercise.

While we had enough space to bring the things that we had accumulated, we left behind friends and family that had been our sense of connection to the earth. We are now having to forge new connections.

Always a slow thing as I thrive on isolation, but a good thing nonetheless.

Good luck.

I'm curious to know how things turned out. You and I are sooo different. Even though I know it would be meeting her on her level, furthering the drama, being unbudda-like, etc, I would pummel her with sracasm and snark and then figure out a way to force her out.
Hopefully you know I'm not a complete aggro asshole; if you're a freind I'll do anything for you, but if you act in a way that's hostile to me or my freinds I will not let it continue.

hey hey my fantastic wonder of a Lady and
kind supportive friend of mine!
I'm estatic that you're feelin' fancy free!
Oh if only I were nearer, I'd be dancin' in the streets,
showering you with flowers for hours!
Oh and as for the origns of "twitterpated"
Well, I'll not google as you've asked but I do have an
inside lead on it I believe!

I'm a big movie buff and I LOVE the ole classics the best.

In 1936 Frank Capra made quite a populist masterpiece called
Mr. Deeds Goes to Town
starring the ever groovy Gary Cooper.
(not to be confused w/ that pablum the Sandler remake I'm sure was)
Well in a climactic courtroom scene where the local yokels are trying to prove that Cooper's crazy for giving away the dough..
they call as witnesses two elderly prude types..
you know, real pollyannas..
who proceed to exclaim that Mr. Deeds has always been funny in the head,
eccentric so to speak..
they refer to him as "twitterpated"
then of course they claim everyone else in the town is twitterpated and the defense crumbles!
It's a delightful flick and I'm sure I haven't ruined too much of the climax since it's a feel good kinda movie.
I think your sense of being all twitterpated
is much more tempting!
love, love, love
to you!
