When things get bad, they seem to be the WORST possible result for me. On top of the embarassment that was the Pats/Vikings game...

Celtic lose 3-0...and two of those goals were provided by Celtic's own Gary Caldwell...an own goal, and another wonderful play when the ball went off his face to the opposing striker, who slotted it into the back of the net.

Not...

Thank god for Tivo. Watched that hit about 30 times...that just about made up for the one of the ugliest games I've seen. There was a second there, when he was froze with his hands up in the air, that I thought he might be dead.
...obviously, I'm glad he's not. But...shit. That was a hell of a hit.

WTF is up with Daniels playing the D-line now? This kid was supposed to be a near blue-chip linebacker, so Mason decides to make him a tailback, then defensive end??? I mean...I'm glad he's back on the defensive side of the ball, but for christs sake, put him where he belongs.

At least they're getting the freshman back some touches, finally. He looked ok.

I went to my first "Open Mic Night" at Jake's a bar here in Bloomington. Before you ask, no I didn't sing anything. Although I love my Irish drinking songs I didn't get up to give any rousing renditions, I was just there to support some friends.

Live music is just amazing, I don't know what it is but there is something about live music...

yeah, I remember that commercial.

I always find Mr. Met wldly enterataining.

I also thought it was great that Tom Seaver used to just HATE him and he'd rag on him during all the broadcasts he did. I think it's great that The Franchise, the mets icon had been associated with the team for 35 years and just hated the macot that entire time. Was just creeped out by him.
cyberedz:
Where would we put Hartley in our midfield ?? You think he'd get in ahead of Gravesen / Lennon / Sno ?? It'd end up being another case of buying him so others can't play him (as with Riordan), and that's not good for Scottish football. 'Sides, I can't see him leaving Hearts now, unless a medium- to large-sized Premiership team comes in for him - maybe MON will make a bid in January.

Oh, and Guiness is legendary in its inability to travel well. It's far from a myth, as many a Liffey Water drinker will tell you. Vodka, on the other hand...

It's really big on the vegan/veggie circuit, yo. You should try it. I made a spicy cajun flavor from How It All Vegan that was delicious. Of course, the Ron Popeil Food Dehydrator that I found in my basement was a big help. If you're really that interested, maybe I can make some for the next time I come down to Bloomington.

Wasted talent. I hate it. Tyson is the best example of it.

To some extent, I blame Don King. When tysonw was with D'Amato, AI thought he might be one of the best fighters ever. He had it all. Amazing punch, speed, great footwork. Couldn't hit his head, couldn't hurt his body. When D'Amato dies, and Tyson went with King, all he had was the punch. He came straight in, fists close together in front of his jaw.

I laughed when King said Tyson would fight Foreman. First, coming straight in against Big George is way up on the stupid scale. Next, Foreman is much taller than Tyson, and if Tyson protects his jaw instead of bobbing ans weaving, Foreman would just start hitting Tyson in the forehead. He wouldn't last long.

Now, Tyson needs the money, so he has his tour, but has become a self parody, a sad, unfunny joke. Wasted talent.

Though I do like the Mike Steele for Senate shirt. Steele is a good man.

I have been thinking about IU. I just dont know what I want. I know Illinois State is a good school for that teaching as well. I dont know. frown

That's the thing about Celtic, isn't it? As I said, I wasn't sure they wanted us there, until I showed my scarf and they saw Megan's green sweater. Then we were part of the family, accepted without questions.

It is the same way in Dallas, at a little hole in the wall Irish Pub I go to. It is not even the official CSC Pub, but good people, all the same.

Poor Megan didn't fare so well. She doesn't like to be touched be people she doesn't know well, and you know how the celbrations are. But, by the end of the game, she had "Hail! Hail! The Celts are here!" down, and I even got her to drink some Guinness. Took a bit of convincing, because I drink Harp, but I may have been the only one there who did.

She did like the fish and chips (Maryland is all about crabs), so I might have to start looking for a Celtic jersey or two. Another woman heard Megan's description of it and wants to attend. Most major clubs have SCs, but I would bet they're not like us.

Can we talk about Benefica yet, or have you recorded it?
pascipio:
Didn't want to spoil it for you if you hadn;t seen it yet!

Hail! Hail! I've never had more fun watching Celtic!

At halftime, we all knew Celtic was going to win, even with 0-0. I knew as soon as I saw the line up. We were at home, and when we're at home, attack, attack, attack! Anway, at halftime, Sean bought the place a round in celebration of the coming Celtic victory. I have no idea who Sean is, but we all toasted him together. It must of cost around $2,000, but I would say it was $2,000 well spent. Most of us were just polishing off that round when Miller hit the back of Benefica's net.

The worst thing about it was that I learned that I could have watched England lose. I suppose I can watch them lose the next game, assuming their FA cannot afford to buy a clue. I don't mind the English, but I do like to see an up and comming team beat a well established one.

I really like the way the tables look in both the CL and the SPL.

some of the actors are from Boston, like Wahlberg and Damon, so i know they can pull it off. It seems to me though that people who never had the "accent" can't really fake it, or maybe it's jsut those of us who hear it all the time just can tell the real from the fake much better
gnarface_killah:
I liked it. I thought Mark Wahlberg's character was awesome and the story for a whole was pretty tight.

SPOILERS! (Click to view)

Plus the last scene when you see the rat next to the golden dome is pretty cool in my book

The Bhoys and Ghirls in America are very valuable to Celtic! We form supporters groups, make sure that bars show thier games, and create a market for Celtic products. As I am sure you have noticed, the ex pats are very happy to have us, and alwasy welcome a new fan.

My question was more directed to baseball fans.

I think Valuev's jab could win him a reunified title, but he may not help the sport or the division. For someone who says he wants to fight in America, he sure does not do it very often.
gnarface_killah:
I just Kop'd the new Killers yesterday and so far so good with that. The first album was ok in my book but I am really all about the new Kasabian (it rocks)

How is FIFA 07? I used to love those games until they changed everything in 03 and I just couldn't get used to it, mostly because I don't have a system so I almost never played it. I'm about to get a roommate with an xbox and I'm thinking about picking it up.

If you haven't seen this yet...now is your chance.

The Little Superstar!

This video is hilarious. Its from a South Indian movie filmed in 1986.

The translation after the dancing scene is supposedly this:

Little Superstar: let me have a cigarette
Man: no, you're too young
Little Superstar: i'm older than you
Man: and if i don't give you one?
Little Superstar: i'll cut you...

High school was an amazing time for me due to the fact that it... well it just was. I think you are right about people missing the support we had from our friends in high school. It was nice to have a group of friends but most of us, myself especially, did change and I guess we were supposed to.

Either way Dropkick is one of my favorite bands as well.

Thanks.
