The previous nine months were an emotional rollercoaster the likes of which six flags has never seen, but, in the end,

it was worth it.

BTW, up until Jan 29, 2009, I was one of those people who didn't care much for new parents who wouldn't shut it about their kids. Now I've become one. smile

...and everything they've said is true. Even though I only...

IVAW marched in the Austin Veteran's Day Parade today! biggrin We got saluted by some, cheered by some, two turned their backs on us and there were other reactions that we didn't know how to interpret.

There was only four of us because people started chickening out. I almost chickened out too. I didn't know if I should wear a riot faceshield to protect from flying...

I was honorably discharged from the Army @ 0949 on November 6, 2008 after much wrestling and less than two months after telling my Battalion XO I'd go to jail before going back to Iraq.

It wasn't easy, but when desertion, doing drugs and deploying aren't options I had little recourse but to just stand my ground.

The characterization is Honorable, but it was for...

Love the Blade Runner references on KittyValentine's sight. What did you think of the Final Cut? The original book's good but hard going. I'll get back to it some day! Regards and congrats.

My separation keeps taking strange turns. Today I had to be counseled by my battalion commander himself (as opposed to my immediate supervisor) and I've been told that they're going to schedule an appointment with a lawyer for me. My Sergeant Major said that my case has reached "new levels of ridiculousness" and hinted that certain decisions (like my counseling being done by my battalion...

Hahaha, that's awesome. It got the whole "two in the bed and the little one said roll over" song in my head, too.

Having read your comment elsewhere, it appears you and I have received the same text. Amazing how the jubilation of yesterday can be wrested away so quickly.

I have a tentative "out of the Army" date of Nov 11. Bung!

Division Commander asked my Battalion Commander what's the hold up with my case and he was forced into a tapdance situation which is not where a commander wants to be. He yelled at some folk and now I'm movin'.

This "early out" was offered to me by the 1st Cav Commander via...

The Obama coffee cups are outselling the McCain ones 3-1 @ the 7-11s in Killeen, TX right outside Fort Hood where 1 in 10 soldiers in the entire Army are stationed.

Not that this is a scientific poll, mind you.

It should also be noted that Obama has been ahead of McCain in servicemember campaign contributions.

Well, one positive thing is that Canadian conservatives are generally more liberal than American conservatives, and we don't bring religion into politics. Depending on when you're out of the military, there might not be a conservative government anymore! And even with conservatives in power, I still think it will be a good country to live insmile

Well, it depends on what kind of place you like. Canadian cities are pretty diverse!

Today I learned a little bit about the female orgasm (a very little bit), got my absentee ballot and still had time to put away 20 wings from Wing Stop (10 Hickory BBQ and 10 Cajun) and take two naps.

What did YOU accomplish today?

DUDE. Impressive list! I would like to have those naps and wings and then some!!!

I worked out and hit the bong and had a beer and before all of that had a nice parent-teacher meeting which is always a gift wink
thistle:
Thanks! For commenting on my set that is.

Everything you did today is fantastic. I would love to eat wings.

I've cut a deal with the Army and I'll be "home by Thanksgiving."

Apparently our Division Commander had a discussion with my Battalion Commander and I was offered a quickie honorable discharge.

These things happen, though very rarely.

I almost cried like a little girl who's just discovered she's becoming a woman. blush

So yeah, my spirits are officially lifted.
