I've got another writing job lined up. 90 thousand words of fantasy rpg stuff: pretty much normal for me. Feels good to have thrown myself back into it, though. It makes me feel like:

The summation of my life to this point, as discovered today by my children.

Addendum: Melville is a saucy, naughty schoolboy.

"Start her, now; give 'em the long and strong stroke, Tashtego. Start her, Tash, my boy--start her, all; but keep cool, keep cool--cucumbers is the word--easy, easy--only start her like grim death and grinning devils, and raise the buried dead perpendicular out of their...

The worst sort of loneliness is the quiet kind, when all the world is hushed beneath a blanket of palpable solitude. I have no real thoughts in my mind right now, just vague impressions of emotion and memory, the experiences of the last few months are ghosts and whispers, shadows and dust. It's sunny outside, and the children are playing, but I feel disconnected from...

Sometimes, it takes the pushiness of a pretty girl to make me stop being lazy.

My last update was in November, which could just as well have been yesterday for all that I have changed, and grown since then.

Well, that isn't totally fair to me. We have a new house, the family and I, a big monster of a home with too many bedrooms,...

Happy Birthday, and good fortune in your quest.
wildswan:
i like your writing -- very much, actually.

Happy birthday, to you!

I've spent the day devouring enormous quantities of various snack foods, and traditional feasty things: turkey has passed my lips by the handful; gallons of mashed potatoes have been guzzled; armies of crescent rolls lined up and marched into the greedy gullet of the digestion machine; and slice upon slice of various pies have seen their last sunrise this day.

My family, too, has partaken...

As I write this, I'm one half hour from my birthday, and two and a half from the time of my birth, almost thirty three years ago.

I've been sitting in the car, smoking, and drinking a hard cider. The night is warm, and so is the cider.

Just outside, the dog is wheezing in his sleep, and I can hear him turning fitfully in...

My birthday is in three days. I'll be 33, which is a year older than Bruce Lee when he died.

I don't know why I've consistently focused on that fact for the last year, except perhaps as a subconscious acknowledgement of Bruce's obsession with the cultivation of the human body. His immense physicality is captured eternally on film, and his early death means there will...

Yeah well, when I was a kid they said by the year two thousand we'd all be zipping around in flying cars and be able to take trips to the moon on Pan Am. I was like "dude, I can't wait 'til I'm thirty!". Well I'm now thirty-six and I'm still waiting on my fucking flying car.

Oh yeah, Happy birthday! At least you're still in your early thirties, unlike some of us.

I really do need to update my picture, I suppose, since I have hair again.

And yet, the laziness is always at war with the ambition, and it's better armed and it's trenches so firmly dug in.

I'm writing again, after too long a break. I suppose I have my own frustrations to thank, though the catalyst is my rereading of the Forgotten Beasts of...

It makes me sad to see friends go grey, and now I have 5 of them on my list who have gone. Hopefully, at least 1 or 2 or them will come back.

I'm trying to get more involved with talking to people again, coming out of the self-imposed shell I've been in for a bit. Lots of work related stuff, I suppose, but that's...

Psst, hey, I'm still gray but also still here. In-cog-nito! wink
liantem:
Aw. Well, perhaps now you can be marginally less sad.

I'm still not very active on the site (hence my hesitation to announce myself to people), but I expect that I'll be able to keep up with my old friends a little better once all the hullabaloo of graduation's over and done. But it's nice to be remembered, so thank you for that. smile

Fuck my fucking enormous, hammy, semi-retarded fingers.

And also fuck guitar tab, while you're at it. Look, everyone, it's numbers. Numbers, numbers, numbers, without any time signature included, and without - as seems to always be the case with tab found on the net - any correlation WHATSOEVER with the actual notes played in the actual song.

I'm not sure, overall, whether my fingers, or...

Every time you click this link, an emo kid gets his bangs.

If it doesn't work, know that it's because I secretly hate you - because of these feelings you make me feel.

You know, the ones I buried down deep, in the bleak, lonely vistas of my soul.

Strong men also cry, dammit!

Time passes quicky, and all too soon, another month and a half has gone by.

I need to reconnect here, make an effort to participate. I do enjoy this place, after all, and it seems rather foolish to simply think about updating, and not actually do it.

I was glad to see everyone at the get together yesterday. It's always a good, angst free time...

I leave Vermont on Thursday, but flying to SF to do some work out there for February probably, but I'll be back in Portland for a long weekend at least middle of the month.
boxofficepoison:
Similar sentiment, if I had the cash to live in SF I'd live in NYC though. Now SF is just cheap to live and work in for a bit because my dad is there. Well North Bay, but close enough.
