If you've been wondering what I have been up to. I have been working at an incredible new job that allows me to work with animals and share my passion towards conservation and o helping our environment. I'm also part of the species survival plan for African penguins. Its been amazing. I have been keeping things pretty quiet for a while now. Mostly...

I'm thrilled that you're doing things for which you have so much passion. That's really the key to having a wonderful life as well as a meaningful one. As it happens, I know rather a lot about anxiety, due in part to the fact that I had a terrible problem with it for a very long time. I've also wanted to understand the nature and source of human conflict for as far back as I can remember, so in the end it's worked out well for me. You're doing all the right things to manage the symptoms so the next step I would recommend is to learn about those aspects of our mind's function that lead to worrying in excess. Fear is your friend because it tells you when you're in physical danger and most of us prefer not dying! ;) The problem of it firing all the time is an education and information based phenomenon, requiring some learning and practicing some new skills. It is not a case of a defective brain or an illness that needs a cure although, believe me, I'm well aware it can definitely feel like one, if not an outright curse. I certainly do get it. If you want to know more, I'm always happy to help. Modern understanding of neurocience has given me a great life but it will be a while before the latest stuff trickles down to the average doctor or therapist. I was lucky to meet a scientist who is also a doctor. 😍

Thank you so much @jozsef I really appreciate you taking the time to tell me that I'm ok! haha. And you're right, sometimes it does feel like I have a defective brain or an incurable illness. You really want that quick fix that will make everything the way it was before you started feeling like you can't control your bodies functions. It was like one day a switch was turned on and I just can't seem to find the damn thing to turn it off. Having supportive people who get it, like yourself, is very helpful. So thank you so much for your words. School me as much as you can :)

Even though you know it's coming...nothing can prepare you.

My papa passed away on Friday. One day after his 90th birthday. My mom and I were at home with him when he suddenly had a stroke. I called 911 and held his hand until the ambulance came. When we got to the hospital, they found out that he was bleeding internally from the

I'm so sorry for your loss :( That picture of him in the bear suit is totally adorable, he seems like a lovely old guy.

I know it's a long gap, but I am sorry for your loss. My parents died within two years of each other, and although it was way back in 2004, and 2006, I still miss them. I still think of them. I can see just how much you loved your father. It sounds trite now, but that awful gnawing pain does ease off, trust me. It seems odd, perhaps, that a strange man, from another part of the world, should say that, but seeing your loving pictures of your dad stopped me in my tracks, and I could not go on without saying something that might be of comfort, as it made me think that you were still hurting. If you want me to mind my own business, then I apologise - but I never like to think of people being sad; that's just how I am. xxxxx
