Your cat is so cute (I love your slippers too). As for getting a dog, I expect that your kitty will be a bit jealous at first and she will probably spend a few days sulking and scowling and generally being mean to you and the dog but after that I expect she will (hopefully) make friends with the dog.

A fair few years ago, when I still lived with my parents, they had a cat (who'd been with the family almost as long as I had and who, clich of clichs, was called Moggy) and then my parents got a dog (a sweet Labrador called Gaffer). When my parents brought Gaffer into the house for the first time, he got really excited and bounced around sniffing everything until he ran up to Moggy (who was fast asleep, blissfully unaware of the betrayal which my parents had perpetrated right under her very roof) and poked her with his nose. By some strange feline magic, Moggy seemed to instantaneously teleport to the ceiling only to whiz down again screeching like an avenging angel sinking her claws into a somewhat traumatised Gaffer!

Things were a bit strained between them for a while after that but in time they became best friends.

It seems like the kitty will probably forgive you faster than she gets used to the dog....that is my expirience anyway. But if the dog is ok with cats then they should be fine eventually.

My mom and i always called cats "furry chickens" when they sit with their legs underneath them like that....because they look like they are roosting or something.

I wish I could work with animals. Unfortunately I can't work for money at all now since I don't have a work Visa. (I'm an American in Canada.)

Maybe I can volunteer at an Animal shelter.

I'm really upset that our apartment doesn't allow cats and dogs because I really want a cat.

My best job - I worked at a fabric store. It was really interesting talking to everyone about their projects, and I got a discount on fabric.

My worst job - I was a life guard for awhile. The job was boring and my manager was awful. She was pregnant the entire time I was working but she would constantly talk about going out to clubs and getting trashed and stoned. When she finally had the baby (really early mind you) she didn't want it anymore and gave it to her mother. Ugh.

You look like a really interesting person, and we seem to have a lot in common!
midian:
thank you for the welcome...congrats on the new job...i am a total biology nerd so anything with animals is cool

I made some ceramic lamps out of porcelain last year, but mine were wheel-thrown. The bodies were easy, but I also made clay lamp shades, which was a huge pain in the ass. I hate that moment when you think something is almost perfect and then it collapses because the clay is too wet to hold the structure. Anyway, my favorite shade is thin enough that the light shines through in places and Im really proud of it. Firing can be a pain in the ass, but the part I hate most is when you hear your glaze cracking because of temperature changes and there is nothing you can do.

Are you mostly into pottery these days?

On the subject of photography, have you seen photogrrl's site?

for some reason this comes to mind

She flies outside this cage
Singing girl-mad words
I keep her dark thoughts deep inside
As black as stone
As mad as birds

Wild wild wild
And never turn away
Sends me all her love
She sends me everything
She sends me everywhere

Oh I could be
A polar bear
Oh I could be
A polar bear
But it's impossible

Worst had to be selling "air filtration devices" door to door. They were really just vacuum cleaners... but I had to convince people that THIS vacuum cleaner was worth $2,000. I only sold 3 by the time I quit... after one boss tried to beat up one of my coworkers, and the other boss got hauled out of the office for sexually assualting my other coworker. (Don't get drunk at work and suck on people's fingers)

Scooping poop sounds great though. Hell I scoop about 10 tons a week just from my enormous mutt. I'm job hunting today anyway... I'm gonna see if there's any poop related jobs open. Thanks for the idea! smile

work! what a question! Work, per se, is the subject of an art show i'm putting together. i have found over the years that i'm simply not good at work. i mean, i'm good at the job, the necessary work, but not so much the idiot dance that surrounds it. thus the painting, etc. i hope to have it finished this fall, a whole series of monsterous pieces.

that said, the worst job? i was once hired as an assistant for gay bondage porno flicks, essentially a fluffer, but never actually went to the job. interesting intellectually, i suppose, but not for me. didn't know what it was when i went to interview. nice guy tho. as for worst, hmn, i suppose those for me the most mundane, the most tedious, the ones where if you don't fit in socially then you're screwed. it's like a constant weight around your neck, waiting to pull you down and you know it and they know it and so why not quit immediately? because you can't afford to. so you stay and they hate you and you them and it's all a terrible waste of time. in my next life i'd like to be reincarnated as a trust fund kid with a terrific sense of style and a wicked sense of humor. oh yeah!
