I have been wraped up and loved by my friends on this site this last few days.
In Sophie's journal she once asked about whether people at their base are out for themselves or if they ultimately pull together in community. At the time when she asked I couldn't answer. I think we all slide back and forth on this scale from day to... Read More
but you asked about Christmas here, and determined to keep some sort of continuity, here goes:
Actually it's very opportune because tomorrow is 'St Nicholas' day. My wife is Belgian and we celebrate St Nicholas on the 6th December. This largely means a mini-Christmas, involviong Chocolate and raisin bread, with presents for the children. (But not the adults. Boo!). So we'll be doing that tomorrow morning with the girls.
Our Christmas this year will be up in the North of England with my parents. This means Midnight mass on the 24th and on coming back we will eat mince pies and drink in Christmas with some Sherry. Next day is a mad food fest starting with full English breakfast after the gifts, then it doesn't stop till turkey sandwiches at 4pm! It's becoming normal to eat Turkey curry at teatime on the 25th now, which is quite fun.
We sometimes go to Belgium but being an island nation we have to get the ferry with the car to get there, and it's a bit tiring with 2 kids now!
Your turn!
PS I already know you're off to your father-in-laws this year
Here's a great quote from Anais Nin (my Mom had her diary series and I used to sneak them when I was little and read the sexy parts):
"I am not original. There are thousands like me, but we shall never know each other because we want to be alone. If we met, we would be a large group, and we don't approve of groups."... Read More
awww sweetie, my wishes are with you and chalko as you work through all the shit that is getting you down. if there is anything that i can do to help either one of you out just let me know.
if you want to email me just to talk so things are off the record and can't be viewed by thousands of people.
I've been trying to put together a journal entry for almost 45 minutes tonight and I can't do it.
I just can't do it.
Oh..Edited to say:
Two people have requested my friendship in the last week and I'm not sure how to respond because I don't know anything about you. I'd like to comment a little back and forth first. I hope that doesn't... Read More
I'm kind of obsessive compulsive and tend to feel like I need to do everything "well."
Yeah, I am familiar with this syndrome.
I think that's an approach that'll reward you in most endeavors, like your relationships, career, etc., but for me, some things have to be just for play or I start getting over-stressed. (shudders)
I turn into such a whiny bitch when I'm overstressed. It's really sad. It's like I'm being possessed by the spirit of Carson from Queer Eye for a Straight Guy.
I'm sorry to hear about your hubby's spider bite! How awful.
As far as SG is concerned, I can usually think of lots to say to my friends, but have a hard time with journaling unless I'm depressed or angst-ridden. I've been surprisingly ok the past month or so, but usually I had a bout of depression one week out of 4 or so.
Anyway, I'm glad you are in my group!
Oh, one more thing: my husband and I heart the pics of you swimming and diving. MrGoose was like, "What're you looking at? Oh! Ohhhhhh!" LOL
Have you ever been up half the night with a sick child who is throwing up?
Words of wisdom gleaned from experience - kids are never done throwing up after the first round and its silly to do a complete linen/pajama change until theyve puked up mucous for at least 2 additional rounds.
I stayed home from work last week when my son was doing... Read More
Item 1 - Last night we caught bits of Charlie's Angels-Full Throttle. Now...this movie is really stupid, but Chalko is hot for Lucy Liu and I think Cameron Diaz is adorable. While we were watching I realized that all four ladies (Demi Moore included) had very visible freckles and facial flaws. They were beautiful and very real (until Demi started doing flying kicks through the... Read More
