I will discover this week whether or not I can cast ninth-level magic -- because that's about the only thing that can save my semester at this point.

Damn! It must be pretty bad if the 7th level limited wish spell won't cover it.

Keep in mind, I have your address. You may yet find out what a CAT scan looks like.

I've reached one of those much-written-about junctions in my life where, after spinning in circles in an attempt to determine where the fuck I am and what the fuck I'm doing, my concious mind admits that I'm either living a lie or a complex illusion. I don't count said admission as an epiphany because: 1.) I don't believe in epiphanies, and 2.) epiphanies presume a...

I had the urge to turn my current short story into a sci-fi piece at two in the morning. I took a shower to clear my head, and, still, all I could think about was describing cascading fountains of light in deep space. (I know next to nothing about space or related anomalies.) It was...strange.

Update: Here goes nothing....
velocity:
Do it. I always let a story do what it wants. I end up writing the most interesting things that way.

Vermont was fun and relaxing. Friday night was the first time my seemingly-perpetual tension headache subsided in almost five days -- definitely a good thing. Now, though, I have vast amounts of work to do for my Monday and Tuesday classes. While I brought all of my texts and such with me, I found myself reading a novel instead of doing anything productive. Lords know...

Tuesday, March 1st? I work until 6:15 that night, and can clean off the passenger seat of my sweet ride, if that helps you schedule.

I'm going to Vermont to ride my snowmobile. Yes, I actually get to ride it this time as, finally, there is snow of the trails surrounding Ludlow and Proctorsville.

Here's to steak, fireside reading, and 600cc, track-driven fun machines.

- My spring vacation runs from 26 February thru 6 March.

- I will be spending the first weekend of that period in the Twin Cities, provided that Zack Kinsey can fit me in.

- I will be staying four days, I think.

- It is was my original intention to leave my cellphone and all of the ridiculousness it represents in my Boston apartment,...

It's actually 45 degrees here right now, so that should make you feel better.

Last night there were bobcats and payloaders filling dumptrucks with vast amounts of the snow that had encapsulated my building during the blizzard. When you consider that I live across from the Christian Science Center and less than a half block from the Prudential, that much machinery tends to draw attention to itself. This after the police spent the weekend searching the undercarriages of more...

Yeah, if prompted my recollection returns. I generally need some prompting to discuss something, but once I get rolling I'm okay.

When are you coming out here again? I may have to schedule some surgery, and I want to get it done as soon as possible, but I also don't want to be guilty of shafting you a second time.

Occasionally, there is nothing more relaxing to my pensive mind than a Bukowski's cheeseburger, fries, and a bottle of fine Belgian beer at midnight. Although the wind was frigid and numbing, and the walk was made difficult by the snow that had coated downtown recently, that tavern, my favorite in all of Boston, was exactly what I needed last night.

The evening's beer of choice:...

Having a Delirium Tremens at the Bukowski. That's so hilarious.

Boston has more snow on the ground than I've ever seen here. The city was incapacitated for the entire weekend, and today's classes were cancelled. My roommate's working remote the living room, but I'm going to the coffee shop to do some writing.

"Stay here," he'll say. "It's not worth going to Starbucks."

Too bad, Dave; I haven't had coffee in two days and I'm...

Once over the course of a couple days I made a friend of mine a complete dining room set out of paper. First I made a table, then four chairs. Then I made a centerpiece, a little vase with a flower in it. Then I made a plate with a chicken on it, then a man and a woman to sit in the chairs and eat the chicken. If you give me enough time at a desk, I guess I'll just start making origami dioramas.

I've not much to say because all of my words are currently promised to my screenplay. As a quick update, though, I've redesigned the plotline, the backstory, and two of the major characters, as well as shuffled nearly all of the existing scenes. That may seem drastic, but, actually, it was only half a step backward so that I could take two forward. It also...

Thanks for the well-wishes. I'll have my kung-fu grip back before you can say "COOOOOBRAAAAAA!"

I see beer in your future as well. There's a neat little pub right by Leviticus that we may have to go to.

I'd forgotten how good soup tastes in winter. Chicken noodle, in particular, holds authority over cold weather, and it's delicious -- when fresh. Soup rocks.

It may not surprise you to know that I make the awesomest soup in the universe. Want to know the secret? Home made stock, preferably made out of ducks.

I've had a painful case of Writer's Block for almost the past two months. I could attribute it to many things, stress among them, but that wouldn't solve the problem. Taking a few writing courses, I thought, seemed a fine way to shake myself loose. So, I signed up for two.

Writing courses, however, require students to share their work with the class. This is...

Oh, and your timeframe works for me.

It's not easy to say this when I am similarly an afflicted perfectionist (one who doesn't do much creative writing anymore, of course), but churn it out, even if it's crap. College is not worth a nervous breakdown. You'll still be a writer regardless of whether your GPA is great or terrible, however, you won't be writing for many people if you can't show that you finished a basic education.
