Thanks for the tips on Yoko Kanno and others. I will check them out except for Douglas Adams, who I started reading as a youngster (but I haven't seen the Hitchhiker's Guide movie yet for fear it'll be horrible and ruin it. Am I right or wrong?)

Also, what your friends did was reprehensible. I lament almost every day that there are so many mean people in the world, who I think truly enjoy being cruel. You don't deserve it. Screw them.

Im sorry to hear that. Friends are tricky. I have one friend thats not related, my sister doen't count! Seriously, just one, I have many aquintences, but one "best friend" if you will. Birthdays are important and they should be shared with the people that mean the most to you and if they dont want to be there for you... then fuck them, their loss!!! I would have been at your b-day bash in a heartbeat! Things will get better, I promise!
