I woke up at 5am this morning to find out that Satoru Iwata had died. A lot of people won't know the name but they'll know his legacy, the Nintendo DS, the Nintendo Wii, Earthbound, Super Smash Bros etc etc
I've always been a Nintendo fanboy, I've had practically every console since I've grown up, hell, I have two 3DS' now - one English, one Japanese. It's weird feeling a sense of loss for someone you've never met, especially when you compare it to real life loss, my uncle died two weeks ago and I didn't particularly feel anything for him (I hadn't seen him for 15 years)
Video games, particularly Nintendo games, have been a constant thread in the tapestry of my life. The guy just came across as personable, and most importantly, genuine. Read this, it's a far better tribute than anything I can muster.

Iwata-san, thanks for the memories.
