Tired from staying up and firing out the eBay invoices last night... got about 300 for my Promo records and pic discs which is awesome
Been burning Compilations CDs for my housemate and it dawned on me... These are so personal. Each disc although just a selection of tracks still feel like something I created, something I put effort into. Reminds me of the tapes I used to make as a kid and how I would try and make samples from bits of song way before I ever thought of DJing etc... I used to have tapes of my sets and they were great for the car because they were always built around whichever club or club goers I was working with so each had a 'history' and a vibe... and some were of course my promo to get more gigs. I won't miss my records in the age of MP3 and stuff, but I miss the unique/lost to time bits of my work...
I quit DJing in the 90's due to politics, but I know that the feeling of making people happy and laughter and having a good time will always be with me... Just have to find other ways of doing it now
I think that's why I no longer enjoy working ::here:: The spirit is gone, I'm still good at my job, I'm still valued, but it feels like the soul has gone. The laughter has died away... time to move on...
Track for the next CD then... The Doors - The End
This is the end, Beautiful friend
This is the end, My only friend, the end
It hurts to set you free
But you'll never follow me
The end of laughter and soft lies
The end of nights we tried to die
This is the end
Question... What would be the last song on your compilation if you were making it today?

the last song id put on a compilation..hmm...depends who its for but if it were to someone who was contemplating suicide it would have to be release by pearl jam....to speed the process on along a bit.
Can't. Stop. Listening. To. It.
