Sophie Jane Darr
I've been following the life of this little girl for many months now. Sophie was an incredibly brave, spunky, beautiful three year old who was fighting brain cancer. There were points along the way when it seemed like progress was being made, but it wasn't to be. Sophie lost her battle this morning.
The random cruelty that life sometimes brings to us can be a difficult thing to comprehend. But rather than allowing ourselves to become dispirited by something this tragic, I think the better response - the response that better honors the short but effervescent and courageous life Sophie lived - is to do our best to celebrate the beauty of the human spirit that was evident in that little girl.
I'm putting the link to her web page below. There's a diary that documents everything she went though since the diagnosis, and a way to contribute toward her expenses if you so choose. RIP Sophie.
