There's this joke in Samual Beckett's Endgame - this bloke wants some trousers made so he goes to a tailor; the tailor measures him up and says the trousers will be ready in a weeks time. So the bloke goes back in a week and the tailor says they are not ready - come back in six days. So the bloke goes back in six days and the tailor says they are still not ready come back in eight days so the bloke goes back in eight days and the trousers are not ready, the tailor says come back in three days. So the bloke dutifully does this. The trousers are finally ready. He says to the tailor what took you so long - God made the world in five days. The tailor replies - ah but look at these pair of trousers and then look at the world.
I love that joke.
