With my new shift at work I haven't had much time to get out lately. When your hours are 10pm-6:30am it's not easy to find people who aren't sleeping!
Anyways, I was off last night and tonight so my buddy and I decided to head over to the Harpoon Brewery for the tour and it did not disappoint! If you're ever in Boston I highly recommend checking this place out, I've only been on one other tour but it had nothing on the Harpoon tour.
You walk into the beer hall and right up front the have a booth to purchase growlers straight from the production line (we did this at the end, obviously don't want to carry that thing around the whole tour). You buy your ticket for the tour and sit down at the bar to enjoy some beer on tap and fresh baked in house pretzels (made with the spent grains from the brewing) before it starts.
Our tour guides were great; they were funny, real personable, extremely knowledgeable, and very passionate about what they do (which is beer, who wouldn't love that?) which made the tour all the more enjoyable!
The tour was amazing but my favorite room in the place was the sample room. Minus the fact that my sample glass would just magically fill up with delicious beer's I have yet to try, the walls were riddles with empty cans from over the years. I saw cans from beers I've never heard (Birthday Beer anyone?) to cans of companies I've been drinking since I was 16..... I mean 21. I easily could have spent hours in this one room alone.
Now here's the best part of this whole story, I didn't bring my camera with me. Main reason for this was that I wanted to enjoy the experience for what it was. I've been so focused on photography lately I feel I've been missing the actual experiences' that surround the photos I'm taking.
With that said, I couldn't get photography out of my mind, everything I looked at inspired me in some form or another. I finally said screw it and pulled out my phone to get some ideas of pictures I'd want to take next time. Right after the second picture I got the "MEMORY FULL CANNOT TAKE PICTURE" message we all love so much. I deleted a few things and took a couple photos but this re-enforced my plan to enjoy the tour for what it was.
Next time though, I'm filling up an entire 32GB SD card with photos from this place!
Well that turned into a rambling mess but I had fun writing it! Hope you all enjoyed reading my read (ever) blog post!
Cheers!
