AN UPDATING FOOL
not too much to report except my pre-travel gig has dried up completely. i was hoping to get a few weeks of work in before heading across the ocean but things kept getting pushed back.
therefore, i've decided to move my travels UP! i'll be leaving on Thursday the 22nd for Indonesia, which will give me a solid three weeks there. i'm totally psyched.
the agenda is: 5 days in yogjakarta, 6 days in bali, now 8 (or 9?) days in kl and elsewhere in malaysia. for some reason i'm particularly looking forward to malaysia. oh, and one night in NYC on the way back
NYC
speaking of NYC, i'm going to be flying into newark a little earlier than i was planning originally so i'm gonna have many hours (6 or more?) before my flight out. would it make sense to leave the airport and travel into the city? could i leave my bags somewhere? if you have personal experience with this let me know. i'm going to try to ask around also.
RELOCATION, PART DUEX
still on the brain. my thoughts about living in nyc most recently are as follows: i think it would be an amazing place to live for a while. i can't imagine living there indefinitely, but that of course is not the point (and who knows). i'm not sure where that leaves me but it seems like a place i'd like to be at some point in my life, probably sooner than later.
i'm still seriously gung ho about going international. i've been wanting to do that for a really long time. i just need to get on the ball.
RAMBLY TODAY
i'm hanging with some vespa kids this weekend. some people are in from out-of-town, including the couple i stayed with last year in new orleans. i spoke to them for a little while. their house is still under many feet of water. they've temporarily relocated to charlotte and are decides whether they'd would go back. whew. hard to imagine.
i had the opportunity to talk a girl i know out of hooking up with this guy that fashions himself a playa. how do you do that without being like "are you serious?? no!" i guess you gotta let people make their own mistakes sometime. maybe i should just leave it at that.
better run.

(Newark to Manhattan and back... in more like five hours if your gonna make it to the plane. It could be done but depending on the time of day, traffic etc... maybe not totally worth it. You could def. go and eat dinner or something. I'm pretty sure any cab will take you from the airport to the city and back for $45 flat each way but I could be thinking of JFK.)
