back. back! back?
hello, i am back. back in the country and i plan to stay that way for a while. well, actually... less than a week. turns out i have a new project and i'll start working outside of toronto on monday. sealed the deal today. it's a little bit of the old and new, but i'm warming up to the idea despite the frigid temperature i'll be experiencing in the great north.
update
i had a serious reality check recently when i checked my money online. it appears my recent galavanting around asia (and so on) has finally taken it's toll. in case you're not keeping track, i spent two weeks in Hong Kong and Shanghai in December attending a conference and evaluating those two cities for possible relocation. consensus: china is an interesting place to visit, but it didn't really grab me as a place to live. or as i like to say: china is crazy.
before that i spent almost three weeks in indonesia and malaysia in october after another project dried up. fra was doing some research in yogjakarta, so we started out there. it was very interesting experience overall. as we moved from the island of java to bali, then on to malaysia, we felt more comfortable and not so out-of-place, but that's an entire discussion in itself. we did barely miss the latest string of bombings at a beach one night in bali, which was a bit surreal. consensus: malaysia is highly underrated. bali is cheap as dirt.
crazy
it's taken me a while to wind down after the holidays and all the traveling, and now i'm looking ahead to 6 weeks in toronto. thankfully i'll be home on the weekends, but it will definitely be a lifestyle adjustment. i've never been that wild about traveling for work, but it comes at a good time.
in other news, i'm trying to focus on japan again for relocation this year, but it could be difficult. guess we'll just have to see.
more on that later. i do have a question i'm dying for some feedback on. but that'll just have to wait.
what's up with y'all?
