i am totally both of those things! i want to make my own tofurky for american thanksgiving. i bought one for canadian thanksgiving... it was on sale... but i think i could totally rock the seitan boat.

meat mimicry is a really interesting topic... i've had a few conversations on it. as with everything i suppose it depends on your reasons for being vegan. my roommate loved meat and cheese before she went vegan, so she really likes meat substitutes. personally i can't eat them if they're too much like meat. it just grosses me out... i've never liked the texture of it.
about raw foods - i think that a largely raw diet is really good for the body. a really, really conscientious raw diet is probably the best thing someone could do for their health. unfortunately it's really hard to eat that well when you're raw - you need to balance your diet expertly and eat really often. most of the raw foodists i know are really low on energy and have trouble focusing. i assume it's due to their diet - it would make sense, as they don't really eat carbohydrates.
i love salad. i love prepared raw food. i also love cooked food.

you should go to the little italy in the bronx instead of the one downtown. (just my opinion anyway, seems much more authentic.) also, while you're there, the bronx zoo and botanical garden are super close.
