were using up our resources. whats the point of not testing on animals, when they use eggs? it feels like a half assed commitment.
jackbunny:
Ok, from an animal welfare perspective, which I have a more than passing knowledge of, there's a big difference. Animal testing = animals suffering as part of the safety testing process of, in this case, a cosmetic product. Free range eggs = Animals kept in humane conditions, fed well, kept healthy and not suffering or being killed in the process of harvesting the unfertilised egg they lay. An unhealthy or distressed hen isn't very productive so farmers make an effort to avoid such things. I could understand your argument if this were veal calves or shark cartilage capsules, but for free range eggs it just doesn't make sense.
