i finally met Venice. we drank deceptively strong fruity martinis and got a wee bit silly drunk. i hope she can come out to play again soon. she's lovely.

i have a long list of things to do...vacuum, paint the bathroom, change the oil, write to my grandmother.

i'm drinking tea and looking at naked girls. you know, this site has changed and all,...

Good to hear from you! Sounds like you're doin' well. I think I need to take a writing course. When I do think of something to write about I tend to rely too much on metaphors for description, I need to let myself go all Hemingway or even Faukner, although I can't stand run on sentences but then, I am terrible at using commas so I'm part way there.

instead of a pathetic journal entry, here are twenty semi-interesting things about abra -- at least more interesting than the miserable drivel i've been writing lately.

1. i love the movie Harold and Maude. i watch it whenever i'm feeling down. i have probably seen it more than 20 times, but only once at a theater.

2. because of number 1, i have always...

i am so very, very tired.

my life is a female version of a bruce springsteen song and a raymond carver short story. depressing, out of work, drunk.

i keep meaning to post "20 interesting things about me" but it just sounds like too much right now.

i live a quiet grey life in a quiet grey town.

the only color is my hair, kool-aid...

I like Denise Levertov - her words remind me of your words ............ do you know her?

Pleasures
Denise Levertov

I like to find
what's not found
at once, but lies

within something of another nature,
in repose, distinct.
Gull feathers of glass, hidden

in white pulp: the bones of squid
which I pull out and lay
blade by blade on the draining board -

tapered as if for swiftness, to pierce
the heart, but fragile, substance
belying design. Or a fruit, mamey,

cased in rough brown peel, the flesh
rose-amber, and the seed:
the seed a stone of wood, carved and

polished, walnut-colored, formed
like a brazilnut, but large,
large enough to fill
the hungry palm of a hand.

I like the juicy stem of grass that grows
within the coarser leaf folded round,
and the butteryellow glow

in the narrow flute from which the morning- glory
opens blue and cool on a hot morning

and the masculineverse of Randall Jarrell

The Death of the Ball Turret Gunner
Randall Jarrell

From my mother's sleep I fell into the State,
And I hunched in its belly till my wet fur froze.
Six miles from earth, loosed from its dream of life,
I woke to black flak and the nightmare fighters.
When I died they washed me out of the turret with a hose.

i do have a favourite poem... one by adrienne rich, but i seem to have misplaced the book. I will post her awe-inspiring, beautiful, free, love filled poem as soon as said book can be recovered from wherever the naughty little book gnomes dragged it to.

Have you ever read any Jeanette Winterson? (I'm quite sure I misspelled her name...)

Get well and be well depending on the situation smile
ramladu:
I have poems that I wrote, but they are laced within the novel I am working on. I don't so much as read poetry consistently as I study the lyrics in my favorite songs.

Here's a two-line poem from an anonymous source that I do enjoy.

I see what you see not
