We ran out of heating oil again. When I left the house at 5.30 pm today it was 52 in the living room, the warmest part of the house. It is supposed to drop to about 25 tonight.

My laptop is ice cold.

Time for brandy and blankets! In excess!
dixiehelle:
i'm very sorry, i have lived in houses with no heat, but it hardly ever got that cold. i'm sure you considered turning on the oven and camping out in the kitchen wink
at least you don't have to actually sit on the toilet everytime you go to the bathroom... i cringed thinking about sitting on that damn thing, it was always so cold!

That's cool, is it yours?
charlize:
Yes, I agree with you about the friend thing. frown I don't think she meant harm, and honestly, I normally would not have been so offended, but I was (and still) in such a vulnerable state. I just wanted my friend. I think it was bad timing, on her part, to decide a new boy she has known for two months is more important than a friend of ten years. puke

Although, I am in much happier spirits now! I can never stay upset for too long! YAY!

Thanks for the input! kiss kiss kiss

Me doggie says thanks for the bone.

No, never heard of the organ music you mentioned.
Thanks for the tip though.
I'm actually a bit of an organ music junky.
Especially modern works and, or course, Bach.
A few years ago a saintly friend bought me a set of the complete organ works of Bach played (wherever possible) on the actual organs he composed them for and other historic organs of his time.

Trust you had a good holiday season and best wishes for the new year.
Hopefully sometime this coming year I'll get my broke ass down to Seattle and we can play some silver ball.

The best software for ripping CD's, I think, is CDex.
It's free and pretty easy to use.
It should be easy to find on google.
You need to set the sample rate.
Most people these days use 192 but my ears seem to get agitated if it's less than 224.
Of course bigger bit rate = bigger files.
Perhaps you can just clone the disk and we can swap postal addresses so I can send you the fabled Josquin or whathave you.

I gots myself a fiddle today.

Throw that on top of 2 banjos, an electric and acoustic guitar, a strumstick, 2 basses, a dulcimer, and 2 DJ turntables. All I need now is a kazoo.

Wait, I have 2 of them as well. And a penny whistle. And 2 jaw harps. Then there's that drum machine. Yeah, and Reason, Recycle and Cubase on my computer....

My grandmother died yesterday.

She had some surgery, then died a few hours later at 1.20 am.

I saw her body at 10 am. She was very cold, I assume she was in a cooler of sorts in the hospital morgue. I was generally okay with it. My youngest brother, who is 20, had rivers flowing from his eyes and kept having to sit down....
