So I got glasses for the first time in my entire life.
Skipping all the fun stuff about how traumatizing my optometrist appointment was, I ended up getting what I thought were a cute pair of glasses with black plastic frames.
They were super expensive (which they neglected to tell me until after they made them custom for me) and even though the prescription lenses aren't that different from my actual eyes, I enjoy wearing them.
I went home last weekend so my mama could help me study for some finals, and I wore my new glasses.
This is basically how the conversation went:
ME: Well? Do you like my glasses, Mama?
MAMA: They look like birth control glasses.
ME: What? What does that mean?
MAMA: When I was in the military, they used to issue these awful black-framed glasses and we all called them 'birth control glasses.' It means they make you look so ugly no guy will come near you so you don't need birth control.
My mama loves me so much.
