Thanks PB!

BTW, went to a halloween party 2 years ago dressed head to toe in a Superman outfit, with a name tag that said 'Christopher Reeve', my cape had a stem cell sign on it, & I handed out little plastic baby dolls (fetuses alla South Park). A few folks got offended & left, thought I was 'able bodied', one was dressed as super girlsmile Hows that for 'crip inappropriate'? biggrin

Have pics, will post

I still wonder if I went too far biggrin oink

Take care, keep publishing

Think I'm gonna pick up that Gerald Jones. Very, very interesting.

Yeah, I've been on a real Leonard Cohen kick recently. Feels so good to wrap myself in his beautiful, melancholy music. smile

My understanding of the end of that film was, not that its better to be dead than physically disabled, but that that wasn't part of Her identity. I guess I read it as: she has literally faced every fear she had, and accomplished everything she wants to accomplish in life. I was sad in that "but you don't even know what could be in store" way.....but I certainly didn't think that the film was making a generalized statement about the quality of life for all physically handicapped people.....just about her reaction to it as a character. I think the film leads the audience to consider whether or not they agree with her decision.....

So, from the perspective of opening eyes to handicap culture, I think that, despite the upset, the outcome of the film might be positive, as it forces audiences to assess their feelings about a really complicated question.

Well, I AM southern. I also love the Carter Family and Hank Williams Sr., along with numerous other country artists who aren't total crap. People my age tend to disparage country music cos they think it's all the hyper-produced sentimentalist pap, and it's a damn shame.
