In Playa Del Carmen, Mexico right now. Have been travelling since September 30. This is my first time travelling.
Started out with 3 days in Tulum which was on. Tulum in beautiful and definitely a hippy paradise. Stayed at a nice little hostel about a 30 minute from the carribbean sea and some ruins. Swimming in the sea was amazing as well as the ruins. Really amazing exploring the town and seeing the culture. Even met some interesting and truly amazingly beautiful people.
After this, I met up with some friends and after a full day of bus and hitchhiking travel we arrived in Copper Bank, Belize. Our friend who had lived in Belize for 1.5 years 3 years ago had arranged a house rental for us for or 12 day stay. Well...after wandering through the jungle for 3 hours at 10 at night and getting eaten alive by mosquitos and at risk of getting attacked by three different types of wild cats we gave up on finding the house and stayed at the inn. The next morning the lady who was renting us the house picked us up at the inn and drove us to the house. Which was right in the village and not anywhere near where we were searching. we explored the village a little bit and realized there was nothing there. A few small shops and a lagoon that was infested with crocodiles. We had to spend most the time indoors to avoid been eaten Aline by mosquitos, which really was not fun. This is a very poor village and after about 5 days my friend, Sam, and I realized this just wasn't right for us so we began the day long treck of getting to Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. We started off at 7am from Copper Bank trying to catch drops to Corozol.
12 hours, 3 drops and 3 buses later we finally arrived in Playa Del Carmen. Now time for an on foot treck to find accomidation. After checking out a few places and deciding that they were too expensive we stumbled across an awesome hostel which we are staying at until October 15 before returning to our home countries. We have spent time both together and separate exploring the town and beaches. We are both much happier with our decision to come here. Have once again met amazing people from all over the world. And looks like I am for real travelling now. Staying in a dorm style hostel with a bunch of people we don't know. Which is actually really fun. The place is clean and safe and that is really all that matters. I've even picked up a bit of Spanish.
I am now trying to figure out where I should travel next. Thailand is on the top of my list. I'd also like to see Europe, Ireland, Peru, Africa, Rome...the list goes.
Well, Sam and I are about to head out and explore more and see what adventure times we can find today.
Hasta luego.
