overheard today at lunch while sharing a table with 7th grade boys:

boy 1: they should put something important on the dollar bill.

boy2: yeah. like pam anderson.

boy 1: naked!

boy 2: yeah, they should totally have pam anderson naked on the dollar bill.

who says today's youth isn't discussing important topics!?

Apparently it's a small part (which is fine, when my new job starts i won't have a ton of time on my hands) but I get to have a speech and the director says she has something "spectacular" planned for the...

been attempting to keep up with the DNC of late, and have come to the conclusion that teresa heinz kerry totally rocks. she's sassy, fierce, opinionated, intellectual, and she could totally burn laura bush's goody two shoes ass in a fight. my only fear is that americans will be scared off by her sophistication (she uses big words like, "socratic") and her "foreign" accent. i...

freeze pop forever!
i am rocking out in my thoroughly air conditioned cave of a room to boston's favorite little synth pop band, freeze pop. i am a little bit obsessed with freeze pop and its members. my ex boyfriend burned me a copy of their new cd yesterday, and its only fueled the 16-bit fires of passion. i'm all about a band that manages...

I agree with you on the bit about exes and new musical tastes; I think the only relationships I truly regret are the ones in which I took away nothing positive, like a new interest or perspective.

Also, the pogo ball was kick ass! smile

Thanks. Sometimes the femenist group can be a little intimidating for us guys, but I really feel it is through colloboration and understanding, not conflict, that we will come to our answers. Your comments seem quite insightful, too.

Well, if you're interested in yoga more, you should join this group:

Yoga

But the first thing to do is to make a small commitment. Not to a class, not to anything big. A small, homeopathic dose of starting a breath practice.

Here's the one I do:

Pranayama Ujaye

If I were able to only do ONE thing in yoga for the rest of my life, this would be it. I cannot think of anything more transformational or balancing than this practice.

Stand firmly with you feet rooted into the ground, shoulders pulled down, sternum up, butt slightly tense, (Mountain Pose).

Now take a deep breath starting with your throat, but let it go all the way down to the base of your spine. Fill your whole body with breath. Keep your tougue on the roof of your mouth while you do this.

Exhale in the same fashion.

Once you have that down, on the inhale, raise your arms skyward AFTER you have started the breath, pause at the top, looking upward, and then begin the exhale, and lower your arms downward to the original position.

As you do this, visulize warm, receptive energy up the front of your body coming from the top down on the inhale, and rigid, steel, strength energy coming up your spine on the exhale.

What you are doing is building a strength that is receptive and a receptivity that is strong.

Put another way:

"A Heart of Gold with a Spine of Steel"

If you dedicate 5-10 minutes a day to doing this practice, it will change your life.

Also, I love the little 20 minute workouts in the videos that Gaiam sells. They are good for building a home practice.

But join the group, there's a lot of other yoga-people in there.

Namaste.
