Now that I'm completely sober, I figured I'd write a new blog. Why? Because it seemed like the thing to do.
I already mentioned that I was just recently promoted again at work, which is pretty cool. And that for the first time in my entire life, I'm actively trying to get published, which is also awesome.
My current little project (and I've talked about this on the FNLHC) is that my mom and I are working on putting together another family cookbook. This time without the entire extended family. Just us. My mom was in charge of the first one and when trying to balance recipes from her entire family, it became pretty stressful for her and while we all love the cookbook and it was totally worth it, I don't think she was eager to be in charge again.... even if this time it's on a smaller scale.
We've been having a lot of fun working on it so far, because we're not just using our old favorites, but actively seeking out recipes to put in. For awhile now, we've liked to look for new recipes based off of great meals we've had on vacations and at restaurants or at a good friends, etc. Find something similar so that every time we make that recipe, it can bring us back to that memory and often back to feeling close to the people that were there at the time (which is really nice when you live half way across the US from most of your friends and family).
It's been a lot of fun assigning each other little homework assignments (like my dad is trying to find a mile high meatloaf recipe that lives up to one we had in Pennsylvania when they came to visit me on vacation). This weekend I have been working on recreating this shrimp poor boy recipe we had in San Fransisco. I had a really good recipe for it that I found about a year and a half ago, but I can't find it anywhere (not even online) so I had to pretty much recreate it from scratch this weekend!
But I've rambled on about cooking long enough... Time to go play me some Final Fantasy!!

Oh, thanks, it will work out. Just need to be patient and let the pieces fall in place. I have had to deal with this a couple of times before and there are always people who can't accept the change.
