I was tagged by my friend Lord_Frous of Brazil to divulge 20 facts not well-known about me. Its kinda hard when youre a writer writing about your own life, and people actually read your writing and then write you fan letters so you're aware they already know things about you.
But before that, I think this is where I tag some people, eh? Is it not? Well, I tag:
trilo - If you haven't already done this - if so, link me, baby!
1kiss_of_life - BWAHAHAHAHAHA!
wakeangel ...c'mon ya wuss!
hypnogogic - Well, I know mr. hypno's already been tagged - BUT HE NEVER FINISHED... not that I saw anyway If so, please link... or do me privately, baby... I mean, 20 facts about you!
LazEboy (Drinks soon! Call me - Sat. 12/3 would prolly work!)
So, all y'all up there... please divulge 20 facts I/we may not know about you... hmmmmmm...
Well, I'm an open book - literally. I live what I write and I write what I live but Im sure theres plenty more hiding in the shadows. Lets see
1. When I was really little like 3 or 4 I used to eat my snot. *HURL!* Then one night I had a dream that I had to eat a bowl-full of boogers in milk. <<GAG!!>> I never ate a booger again at least intentionally.
2. Sorry let me butt-in with a shameless plug, although a fact few of you know: I recently started a Chicago Burning Man tribe on Tribe.net called Chi-Burners. Its only a week old, but Ive already got 3 events in the works (Playa Vibe nights at Sonotheque & a 10,000 sq ft loft, then a pyro-extravaganza in spring at the Park West).
Spread the word to SG Chicago Burners you know who are on Tribe. BUT everybody should come out and play with us! Even if you have no idea what a Burner is. Music, cool peeps, beverages and *such*, DJs, Firedancers, Glow hoopers, me - I will prolly be bellydancing with finger fans - We're gonna be a travelling circus of whackos! All SGC's ALWAYS invited - I'll post up on the SGC board when I have info.
...and now back to the real story...
3. When I was learning to ride my first 2-wheel bicycle when I was 5, one night I dreamt that I could do it I saw and felt myself riding it - and the next morning I woke up and I DID IT!!!!! This was my first experience with the awesome power of visualization.
4. I started taking acid at age 15.
5. I started drinking at age 14.
6. I used to eat a whole tube of pre-made, store bought, raw chocolate cookie dough and was able to polish off a whole can of frosting in one sitting.
7. I think way too much
8. One of my greatest fears is mediocrity.
9. Another of my greatest fears is slipping away into mental illness (it runs deep in my family).
10. I LOVE SPIDERS!!!! I love how graceful they are. I rarely ever kill one. Ive had to, but only because little colonies would start to collect in the corners of my house.
11. One year, I won first place grand prize for artistic excellence, junior category, at the annual Las Vegas Flower Show held at the Convention Center not the Convention Center thats there now, but the old one from back in the 60s/70s that looked like a giant flying saucer. At the same time I won my award, my sister won 1st place jr. category grand prize for agricultural excellence with her From Bean to Bean Sprout exhibit. She was 14, I was 5. It was the first time sisters had ever taken top honors in both Junior categories. We got our picture taken together for the Las Vegas Sun. Awwwwwww!
12. I wrote songs, played bass and sang in a band called Mink Oil (sexy yet waterproof!) back in the late 90s.
13. At this year's Temple at Burning Man during my first burn, one of the things I wrote on the back of my offering / remembrance was that I forgave my 100%-German grandfather, long since past, may he R.I.P. (oh, how I loved my Grandpa!) - of being a Nazi sympathizer.
Thats my offering right there, the b/w pic of the late Hunter S. Thompson (a personal writing hero of mine), in front of the late Landmark Hotel (my favorite Las Vegas hotel circa the early 70s when I was a kid, right up there with the Silver Slipper and the Flamingo).
I only found out this shocking tidbit about my favorite grandpa when my soon to be 78-year old mother sunk into a deep, deep depression (she was catatonic at one point), back in 2000. It was after that she decided to tell me all about my Nazi grandfather. I was devastated. I was able to send off a lot of my anger and grief about that with the embers of the temple at Burning Man.
After the temple burned, I just wandered way out to the edge of the playa, out into the deep, dark black of the desert, by myself. With glow light strings and a miners light illuminating my path. I walked until I could walk no more. I turned off all my lights and stood out in the open blackness, looked up at the stars and I felt an aching sort of peace flow into my heart, over my grandfather and over a lot of things in my life. I. Felt. Resolution. Courage. Strength. When I got home, I started whackin weeds. My Beginnings of Inner Peace.
14. My mother has rarely left the house for 5 years. Ah, mental illness Mmmmm nothing like it.
15. I have never been to a strip club. I know... unbelievable. I have had lapdances however, at private parties, by both pros and horny novices So, I think someone needs to take me! How about an SGC night at a strip club?!?!??!
16. My father played the standup bass in the house band at Mr. Kellys (famous 1950s show club in Chicago) where Lenny Bruce was the opening comic.
17. My dad was a friend of Jonathan Winters, a legendary American stand-up comic pioneer:
They gigged together out in Vegas in the mid-to-late 60s. My dad tells a great story of when Jonathan (herein J.W.) was on the edge of going bonkers. J.W. was standing next to my dad in the john at the urinal, talking and at first my dad thought he was talking to him. He looked over at J.W. only to find out (in my dads words): He wasnt talkin to me HE WAS TALKIN TO HIS JOINT! (old jazz cat speak for penis) STANDING THERE HAVING A CONVERSATION WITH HIS JOINT, MAKING IT TALK BACK TO HIM TRYIN TO HAVE IT TALK TO ME!!! It was shortly after that that J.W. checked into the hospital suffering from a full nervous breakdown.
18. I had several run-ins with the law when I was a teenager. *all "juvie records" expunged at age 18* I am cleeeeeeeeeean!!! Wheeeeeee!
19. At age 16 I started hanging out with carneys, dirt track racers and motocross riders.
20. I lived in France & Italy for the first time, for a total of six months, when I was 17.

And yes. I have oral fixations and have always been a biter. Why? Well I could blame it on vampirism. I mean ... it works. But who do I blame ... for everything?
Siggy? "If weaned too early or too late, there may be a subsequent failure to resolve the conflicts of this stage and to develop a maladaptive oral fixation. In later life, these people may constantly "hunger" for activities involving the mouth."
I now recall all those years of private catholic school that taught me to be a good little girl.
So anyway, I blame mommie dearest.
BWAHAHAHA! Well that was a curious turn of events, wasn't it?
