This be my first blog, fully expecting a grand total of zero people to read it.
So. Today I took a giant leap towards starting a business, and was given masses of confidence in myself and my ideas.
I live in an area of the UK called Wansbeck. Apparantly, according to the guy i spoke to today, wansbeck has one of the lowest rates in the UK for business start up.
So, the government has decided that they want to help people start their own businesses by offering free advice and possible money (grants an loans and shit), [bored yet? thought so]
So today, i went to a drip in session thing to talk to some people about my business plan.
there were four people there with ideas.
One. got sent packing, basically told no, dont bother, go home rethink and try again.
Two of them, had their "interview", then the panel of people told them to wait outside, they had a think, then told them to come back in (then they were told to come back another interview)
Me. I went in, and they told me straight away that they loved my ideas. Which made me pretty excited. i thought i might get booted out hte door like the first bloke. but out of everybody, i seemed to have the best ideas.
then, i went to a photography place in bedlington (the town i live in), and had a talk to the bloke who runs it. spoke to him for like 2 hours. top bloke. gave me some really god sound advice. and it was nice to talk to someone about cameras and not feel like i was boring the fuck out of them.
So today has totally given me confidence in my abilities,
iv been told my business plan is good
been given some good advice to make my work even better
and had compliments on some of my photos.
and my webiste (which is gash. lol)
So now. im looking for some models to take pictures of, to build up m portfolio. I also need to make a plan of attack against the Carling academy. See if i can get myself a press pass. I have the email for the press office. now just need to write a decent email that might get me somewhere!
Mainly though, looking for models. preferebly models who just want photos taken, and A) dont want paying for it, and B) want to keep their kit on. otherwise the wife would kill me. and, i am probably gonna be a nervous wreck when they have their kit on. never mind if they take it off....
Hmmm... so. how do i get people to take photos of? this is the question.
Also, FINALLY got a new job!

still though. its a job. and i need as much cash i can get to fund my camera lens buying adiction.

next purchase: (probably) 28mm prime f2.8
Randomly found the SG hopefuls set for a barmaid in my "local" pub the other day. that was interesting.
I doubt ill be able to look at her again in the same way haha.

Seriously though, it's cool that you got on well with starting your business, especially considering the stats in your area. Take whatever they give you and give it a go. Personally I'd be scared shitless by starting my own business - I prefer to let someone else do all the worrying about that kind of stuff and just get paid.
Anyway, go for it and lets see some of those pics.
