Okay, the moment you've all been waiting for . . . the speed-dating story. Get comfortable, it's a long one.

It started a few weeks ago when I saw the flyers all over Kensington for 25dates.com. I'd heard of them before and had even checked out their site, but now I was seriously considering it. 46 bucks seemed a bit steep at the time, but...

Your own drama is the ONLY kind you never get immune to.

You have my admiration, in my entire life I have *never* been able to make a 'pick-up', even this specialized situation. i have to get to know girls over the course of weeks/months in order to get a date.

As far as the kiss goes, I'm good at that, my advice is to act like you are going to peck her on the lips, and then give a soft-but dry just below the cheekbone.

Chix are helpless before the sensual power of the soft but dry.

Oh, and do neither lunch nor dinner. Do late breakfast at Gruman's downtown, it's 7 ave and 10st approx, best eggs benedict in calgary, superb potato latkes, and the ultimate in non-threatening date venue.

I'm having a strange moment.

You know how there's occasionally bitching from some quarters that remakes or adaptations or "reimaginings of old films, books and tv series are assaulting people's own sense of nostalgia in their lives? Consider this . . .

I just poured a bowl of cereal that I thought I'd eat while watching cartoons. (Hey, it's Sunday! I suppose most of you...

YAY! Cartoons! biggrin

Ahhhh... Now I know that that chocolate soy milk + apple cinammon Cheerios = Not soo bad that I won't eat it. Another life lesson I don't have to experience to learn. Thanks man. biggrin

I still want to be a cute kid of the 80's, 90's and 2000's. biggrin

Have a great day! biggrin

The tiny god lives again!

My computer's back up, after another $100 of Technical Loving Care, and seems to run okay but still bogs down if I try to play Civilization IV. (Dammit, people, it's a turn-based game - it shouldn't have to be that demanding! End microrant.) Time to sing the geek's perennial "More RAM" song. Coincidentally, a guy at work got sick and...

Two updates in a single week! And I'm actually up before noon! The seas may boil and the moon turn bloody at any moment.

Lately it seems I can put my days on a scale with one side possibly referred to as "artistic endeavours" and the other something like "slack/survival." For instance, six hours of art modelling interrupted by an email plea to play in...

For your ease and safety I've divided this rant up into sections.

[Computer Geeky Rant starts:]

Well, I finally blew up a computer. Quite a bit of that going around.

I have a friend who actually does IT at the university and has been dealing in hardware for years, and he recently set me up with a bare-bones box roughly 3x as powerful as my...

That is awesome to hear about the theature stuff. It sounds like you really are enjoying yourself. Keep up the great work.

Sucky about the computer. I have never blown one up yet, but I still have 50 or 60 years. biggrin

As for letters comeing.... I can only part with the 'Q' and the 'h'. Will those do? tongue

Have a great V-day! biggrin

Hang on to your internal organs, here I go....

Weeeeeeee!

Ah, sucks about your computer. Mine is just a glorified tool to check my email and SG. I know squat of importance about computers!

I'll bet you didn't know that I choreographed bands stage shows and did something for the Hard Music Awards where I actually did all the choreography and performed the dance too, did ya?

Spooky.

They shouldn't let me outside alone.

So it's been over a month since I've updated. On the plus side, I actually did stuff worth writing about. I'll work backwards from this week, since it's kinda at its apex right now.

At this very moment I'm in the middle of the busiest week I've had in months.

- I'm booked for 3 evening shifts at the community centre, which is generally unheard...

So according to my calculations the exact moment of my birthday should be right about . . . now!

Here it is, my Jesus year. Let's see if I can make it past it, unlike SOME PEOPLE I could mention taking the easy way out. I'm looking at you, Lamb of Hosts. Like you didn't see it coming.

A few goals:

Meeting more people, doing...

Alive again!

Well, my brother has given me the gift of SG for an entire year (and possibly into perpetuity if he doesn't pay attention). Works out to under a dime a day, which ain't bad at all. I'll have to take him out for coffee once a month or something.

Fortunately, I'm becoming less of a charity case as the days progress. I'm still...

Whoo! 2 months and not a single update! I frikken rock!

I got back into Calgary late September after rapping up Fringe in Vancouver (which probably isn't the worst fringe in Canada, but after riding the Bell Curve of Cool Fests across Canada, it don't seem so hot). The gods did smile on me again and found me a place to live so I wouldn't...

On the Road Again
Well, it was a nice break, but the Fringe, she is a harsh mistress with a soft pink underbelly. But that's neither here nor there - the point is I'm in Edmonton now, the mother of all (North American) Fringes! I'm billeted with Stan and Kyle of Apocalypse Kow, an a capella group that rocks the casbah locally. I am literally...

Journal bomb!

Come see my play, damn it!

"Two Guys, a Couch, and the Fate of the World"

When: Sept. 14 2 pm, Sept. 14-17 8 pm, Sept. 21-24 8 pm
Where: The Easterbrook Theatre, Building A3, 2633 Hochwald Ave. SW, Calgary, Alberta

Synopsis: Top Secret Agent Dirk Rhombus is out to save the world from a deadly weather satelliteor, rather, top Canadian agent Janet DuBois is out to save the world from a deadly virusor possibly some sort of combination. It all depends if playwrights Phil and Chris can stop bickering long enough to write the script. It's a spy comedy and a look at the writing process all in one, from non-bickering (sort of) playwrights Jason Garred and Dan Gibbins.

And for Cilantro and anyone else who needs them, directions to the theatre:
1) Take Crowchild southbound
2) Take the exit marked Flanders Avenue. This spits you out at a set of traffic lights.
3) Turn right at the lights. This takes you past a gate with a guy in a box. You don't have to say anything to the guy or pay or anything like that.
4) Turn right onto Quesnay Wood Drive. This is the second opportunity to turn right after the guy in the box.
5) a) Turn right on Dieppe Avenue. The parking lot is on the left hand side of the road a little ways down. Should you miss this,
b) Turn right on Hochwald Avenue. In this case the parking lot is on your right.

For the bus bound, if you bail off the 18 just after it leaves Crowchild in the Mount Royal area, you're basically at the "this spits you out at a set of traffic lights" part of the directions. The 13 offers more or less the same option, but you have bail off at Richardson Way -ish. I'm also told that the 40 stops right near the barracks, too.

Tickets are $10 for Students, $13 for adults, and half that on the Wednesday matinee.

Call (403)-999-2024 or e-mail scorpio.info@shaw.ca for more info and to book tickets.
