My uncle, and my mother's only full sibling, died tonight. He had metastasized throat cancer. The family had been expecting it to a degree, but you never fully expect it. And he was reacting well to chemo. My poor mother. My poor aunt.
browngirl:
sorry about your uncle. i have 2 friends dealing with cancer right now (one has it & one's mom just passed), it feels like it's an epidemic...
browngirl:
on an uncomfortably unrelated note, i'd think it was hot if my husband asked me to take shirtless photos of him for a softcore porn site & would ask if he wanted noodz.

Well, so. Back from Seattle, for a visit to the 'rents, with the in-laws tagging along. It was just getting to be too much family togetherness, when it was time to come back to San Francisco. Saw some old friends at what's becoming a holiday tradition-the 'rents throwing a small holiday party.

WARNING: Minor whining below the jump.

The party was...

Fuck me. We did it again; our "quiet evening" turned into a drunken, close-the-bars-and-continue-the-party-with-Rock-Band fest. Too much party.

All I can really say is that it seemed like a good idea at the time...

there is no such thing as too much party...

Why the hell is it that every time wifey and I say "we're having a quiet evening tonight" and that "we're going to bed early", we end up drinking till 4 am? Jesus Christ, you think we'd learn.

Anyway, old friends in town this past week. It's good to spend time with folks you haven't seen in a while. There's talk of a ski trip...

Dear AT&T,
I love my iPhone. A lot. A lot a lot. A lot a lot a lot... well, you get the idea.

Sadly, when you tell iPhone users in San Francisco and Austin that their service sucks because they're using their phones too durned much, that points to a failing of yours, and not of ours. Maybe you shouldn't sign exclusive agreements with what...

Dear Bing.com,
I hate you. More and more every day.

Love,

umeko:
just a normal toy lol...

Whats up with bing.com (dunno who they are)
aldremech:
I have been in hate with them since its very inception. Possibly the worst search function ever, coupled with that annoying paper clip thing from Wordmad

Anyone reading this in SF... I'm thinking of going to get a bike today. Any ideas on where (I'm thinking of checking out Valencia Cyclery or anywhere else in The Mission)?

Also, I wanna see SantaCon. Should be really, really interesting.

Too much whiskey last night. Liver sort of screaming at me today.

Despite the fact that SF is way colder than I'm used to in Tucson, I'm loving it here. Our neighborhood (the Lower Haight) had an "Art Walk" last night. Essentially, all that meant was that stores stayed open later and offered free wine, cheese, and snacks. Still, it was a good time walking around. There were a ton of musicians on the street; not just...

one of my closest friends actually lives at Haight and Central... I'm always there. We plan on pre-gaming at his house until 3 and then heading to lower haight...

So, I'll be there but you probably won't recognize me, or I won't say anything to you because I have a "shy" problem... yeah, shy...

My first week back in steady employment. Wow. I'm still adjusting to the commute. And the having to go into the same place

Thanksgiving was good, we went to Texas for a few days. I got somewhat ill while I was there, and that was less than fun. We'll be going back to Seattle for Christmas, by driving. That should be pretty fun.

In the...

Damn, it's cold out there. And, since our window insulation isn't all that great, it's cold in here too. I guess that's what I get for leaving the desert.

I had a series of strange dreams last night. I wish I could remember them all. I definitely remember a few being related to all things Suicide Girls. I just remember staring at this black and...

New exam on Monday (for my game theory class). Maya's cousin comes to town this weekend, so basically my studying has to happen today, tomorrow and Friday. Oh well. I still plan on doing some wandering/exploring in the next day or two.

I have a job... it's official. My first day will be 11/30, and I'm sure you're all happy to not hear me complain...

News, news... nothing, really. As for last week, I woke up on Friday like any other day and got progressively more cold as the day went on. It wasn't the house; I had some weird 24-hour virus. Fortunately, I was able to just sleep all day until Maya came home with ginger ale and soup.

I got well enough to go out on Saturday and...
